So. Jupiter is in Taurus. What about it?

Jupiter wants to offer each of us luck and expansion in areas where we most need it.

Molly Hall, an astrological teacher of mine and all around amazing person, writes in her extremely informative book, KNACK ASTROLOGY, that “Jupiter stands at the leading edge of awareness as a herald of future visions and potentials, leading us beyond known limits and constantly expanding our perspective.”  In essence, what she is saying is that Jupiter allows us to see past the narrow perceptions we have created for ourselves.  It’s present when we ace that intimidating interview and land our dream job.  It’s in the room when we finally have the courage to go up to someone who has caught our eye and say hello.  It’s the nudge we get to say yes to that trip that seems impossible to pay for but ultimately inspires us toward a major life transformation.  Jupiter wants to offer each of us luck and expansion in areas where we most need it.  And, it can be most beneficial when it’s pushing us to see a personal truth about ourselves that we are deeply afraid to face.  Everyone should become aware of where Jupiter is in their lives.  That knowledge will help give birth to the abundance we each need to thrive.

So. It’s a new moon in Gemini. And a solar eclipse to boot. What about it?

First off, my deepest apologies for having taken so long to write a new post.  Life just happened and seemed to just keep on happening.  Some of it in the form of inner, personal frustrations (which I blame on my 12th House transits that have been occurring during this last month).  The rest of it came in the form of an amazing trip to Europe (my first!), where I got to see parts of France and Spain.  It was a magnificent trip that allowed me to visit places in the world I never thought I would get the chance to see.  It also offered me an opportunity to open up my view of the world, but even more importantly, it opened me up to a new perspective about myself.

Without that shift in consciousness where you tell yourself that something is possible, there’s no way for that ‘something’ to enter your life.

So, it’s a new moon in Taurus. What about it?

This week, the Taurus new moon wants us to set some specific intentions in our lives in order to manifest change.

I was talking to a good friend of mine from work, the Taurus, and she was telling me how she went hiking with another Aries friend, who was chalking up all of the current action in his life to the plethora of Aries energy at play in the heavens.  Being that my astro talk has been rubbing off on her, she was able to tell him, “Well enjoy it while you can, because it’s my turn next.”  And she’s pretty much right.  Come next month, most of the planets that have been bringing luck, joy, or perhaps just profound personal awakenings to the Aries clan will find their way to the Taurus party.  Yes, you Taureans will get a lot more action in your lives, but this shift is going to offer something for everyone.  It’s an opportunity for us all to make up our minds about some things that have been swirling in our thoughts and to set a course of clear intentions for ourselves.  How do we move beyond the inspired idea process and into a more solidified realm of action?

This time with Aries has been good for us all in that it’s given us a greater sense of bravery in some part of our lives.  We have uncovered new truths about who we want to be and have awakened to the changes in ourselves that must unfold in order to achieve greater happiness.  But Aries isn’t necessarily the best when it comes to follow through.  He’s merely the instigator, the one who pumps up the crowd but then leaves you to take action.  So how, at this new moon time, can we best utilize the gifts of insight that Aries has been trying to offer us these last few months?

It’s time we ask ourselves some profound questions.

Well, it’s time we ask ourselves some profound questions.  “Who am I really trying to be in this lifetime?”  “How do I express that desire in a tangible way?”  We must move past the confusion, insecurity, and procrastination we easily get caught up in so that we can honor the personal shift that’s ready to emerge.  This week, the Taurus new moon wants us to set some specific intentions in our lives in order to manifest change.  We have to roll up our sleeves and get down and dirty with our desires.  What do you really want to have in life right now, and are you willing to do the work to get it?  There can’t be any fear involved here, only honesty.

Let’s take a closer look at each sign and see if we can clarify where in your life this self-examination can best be put to use.  Remember to read your sun and rising sign, if you know it.

So, Mercury is back in full effect. What about it?

I’m finally ready to break through.

Last night, my boyfriend, the Aquarius, and I sat out on my porch and gazed up at the sky.  A few days before he had asked if Mercury was moving out of retrograde yet.  “I feel a shift coming on.”  I assured him that it was but suggested that perhaps he was feeling Venus’s move from quiet, sensitive Pisces into fast and furious Aries instead.  He agreed that could be it.  But sitting outside in the Spring nighttime air, he let me know that it felt like it was time for a cycle to end.  “It’s like I’ve been chiseling away at something for a while now, and I’m finally ready to break through.”  I echoed his feelings, sharing that I too felt like it was time to start putting into action everything I have been pondering about my life.  “Well, just start doing it!”, he pushed.  Later, as I drifted off to sleep, I wondered what life could be like if I put all of the effort that goes into generating my thoughts into generating some action.  I spend so much time and energy thinking myself into circles that my brain must resemble a hamster wheel by now.  It seems like it’s finally time to hop out of the spiral and take some action.  And no better time than this week.

Mercury has been in retrograde for the last few weeks, stalling some of the forward momentum we may have been feeling since the start of the new year.  However, it was also a necessary time for reflection.  Aries can give us all a very ‘full steam ahead’ approach, which can at time get us into a bit of trouble.  We make decisions because they seem exciting or ‘feel right’.  But actually, we’re diving head first into something with unexamined intentions.  We may think we’re choosing a lover or job out of passion or excitement, but it could be the unseen forces of fear or insecurity at the helm.  Of course, the converse is true there too.  What may feel like a fear-based thought is really one centered in one of our deepest desires or needs.

These past few weeks have been meant to clarify our goals and what is motivating our personal charge for them.  And with Venus moving into Aries now, we’ll not only be able to move forward with more clarity and intensity, we’ll also be able to relate to those who can help us in a creative, inspiring way.

So how can this affect each of us more specifically?  Let’s take a brief look at each sign and where you can be putting your energies.  Remember to read your sign’s posting as well as for those of your rising and any other sign you may have an abundance of in your natal chart.

New Moon in Aries. What about it?

Okay.  New Moon in Aries.  What about it?

One of my favorite Aries women, Maya Angelou, once said, “When you know better, you do better.”  Her simple but wise words exemplify my outlook on astrology.  Many look to it as a way to divine their future while others just question its validity.  Personally, I see it as a tool for personal growth.  We can all employ our natal charts to help us better understand what makes our inner clock tick, thus furthering our own personal evolution.  Astrology doesn’t need to be seen as some mystical, hard to understand science.  Ultimately, it should be looked at as a way to know ourselves better, so that in turn, we can “do better”.

Full Moon in Virgo. What about it?

Okay.  Full Moon in Virgo.  What about it?

There has been so much talk about the upcoming full moon on March 19th, also known as the “supermoon”.  Apparently, it will be 8 percent closer to the earth than most full moons, so it may appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual.  Some are speculating that, due to gravitational forces at play, it could also end up causing more environmental catastrophes around the world.  At this point, who can be sure about what the world will bring us and what will be its cause.  I just think that there’s so much pent-up fear and frustration around the recent global events that people are looking for some way to feel in control of what’s to come.  They want something to believe in so they know where to place the blame.  And that’s natural.  We don’t all want to feel at the mercy of some unknown entity, so if we can make anything the moon’s fault, or your mom’s fault, or Britney Spears’s fault, then at least we have a picture to pin on the dart board.  But is that a real solution for the inner anxiety that is guiding our thoughts, actions, and ideas?  Not really.

Uranus in Aries. What about it?

Inspiration comes in the blink of an eye.  It can come from a stunning view of nature, an overheard conversation, or a twinkle in your boyfriend’s eye.  It can surprise and delight.  It can change your life.  Inspiration also shares a similar quality to that of an accident.  They are both sudden occurrences, surprises unforeseen that are able to completely transform the course of one’s existence.  Both force us to be creative with our lives and improvise from that point forward.  We either have to act on our mental impulse to paint that room, buy that car, or eat that chicken OR we have to get to the hospital, clean up that mess, or exchange driver information.  One is usually much more enjoyable than the other, but both offer an opportunity to make a shift in our path.  We also call both of them into our lives on some level.  Have you ever felt like you needed to shake things up, only to have some event occur that forces you to do just that?  However, why wait for something to come along and make us change, when we can read the signposts that are trying to tell us where we need to change?
