Our greatest goal is to get in touch with the core of ourselves

Over the weekend, I was at a party and the conversation turned to the full moon, which then led it to turn to me. “So what does it mean, Angel?” Please note that I had probably had a few drinks at this point, but I’m always game to get into some astrology talk. “Well, it’s the second one in Sagittarius, which makes it even more meaningful. It’s all about truth. Deal with your truth or get the fuck off the pot.” Everyone laughed but then someone chimed in, “Isn’t that what they’re always about? Get in touch with your truth?” Someone else exclaimed in agreement. “Yeah, it’s always the same thing.” At the time, I belted out some response about how it’s always about truth because that’s what most people need to hear. Most are not in touch with their truth, which makes life harder for the rest of us. I don’t know if I made much sense at the time, and I agree that it can feel like every spiritual message is about getting in touch with your true self. But that’s for a reason. It’s because it’s true. Our greatest goal is to get in touch with the core of ourselves, and every day offers an opportunity to connect to that personal, inherent truth so that we can actualize our most valuable self.

Sagittarius is the truth seeker, so to have two full moons in that sign means that the universal energy is urging us to release our greatest truths out into the world. That can come in the form of an important relationship conversation, a creative project, or a deep internal realization that we must come to terms with inside our heart, mind, or spirit. Whatever it is isn’t easy. A lot in our lives may feel at odds with each other right now. Our home life may be sparring in some way with our work life. Or our internal self may want to do one thing that our external life isn’t assisting us in achieving. It may just be that the version of us that our past created is trying to give way to a version of us that we want to be now, but for some reason, we are unable to let go of whatever thought pattern, habit, relationship, job, or what have you that is holding us back. The genesis of our struggle isn’t always easy to connect to, but once we dig into the closet that houses all of our crap, we can uncover it and make way to free ourselves to be entirely who we want to be.

The Sagittarius moon wants us to know that the more in touch we are with our truth, the clearer our path will be before us

So yes, I know a lot of this can sound broad and leave you wondering what the hell do I do about all this. But if you really take the time to understand yourself and your inner workings, you can make these general ideas concrete. And you will realize that it’s just not worth wasting time in this life. We really do allow ourselves to be clouded by the shit of our past, whether we know it or not. That is the human way. Our conditioning can keep us paralyzed from moving forward. The Sagittarius moon wants us to know that the more in touch we are with our truth, the clearer our path will be before us.

Here are some closer looks at the signs and how this full moon is affecting them:

That Sagittarius Full Moon When Caitlyn Jenner Showed Us the Way

556c7a154ae56e586e457d0e_t-vf-cover-bruce-jenner-july-2015

Living is giving the world your most authentic you, all the time, in the moment

As you all know by now, Caitlyn Jenner has been introduced to the world, and she is pretty damn gorgeous. Many are shouting praise for her bravery, while others scoff at her decision. Some may even go so far as to say cruel, nasty things about her and her transition. Yes, I am looking at you, Fox News. However, in the end, none of it really matters to her process. Yes, it’s amazing for her to feel the support. She deserves it. And really, Caitlyn is forging major change in the mainstream world with her courageous and very public transformation. Personally, I’m in awe of her. Yet, what matters most is that she is making time in her precious life to live in the entirety of her truth. Whether she does so in front of billions or was doing so in a small town, it doesn’t fully matter to her life journey. What matters is that she is finally allowing herself to exist in her complete authenticity. And that is what we should all aspire to do.

We all must live in our unique truth. But to do so, we must first explore, then understand, and ultimately accept the nature of our unique truth. Some of us are afraid to probe too deeply. We accept the realities of our lives as they are presented to us and ignore the voices inside, urging us to live differently, more freely. We become afraid of what our families, our friends, our peers, our churches, our businesses will think of us. We cower from the honesty in our hearts to appease the eyes of those around us. But that is not living. Living is giving the world your most authentic you, all the time, in the moment.

The confusions in your life are illusions

The Sagittarius Full Moon wants to inspire you to release your most authentic self onto the world. Now, you may be saying, “I am me. This is it.” But then in another breath, you go on about how you’re confused about your career, or your relationship, or how to best manage your health. And that is because you are fighting a silent war with your truth. The Sagittarius Full Moon wants to remind you that the confusions in your life are illusions. You just need to wave them away with some honest self-reflection. And a good old-fashioned chat with a trusted somebody never hurt either.

So, where are you in the process? Perhaps you need to explore a bit more into what exactly is your authentic truth. Get quiet with yourself. Ask some questions. “Do I love the direction of my life?” Do I love me in all that I do?” Maybe you have explored further and have that deeper knowledge. Now, how do you grow to understand it better so you can put it into action? How do you gain the complete acceptance so that you can just live it openly? Don’t beat yourself up for not having all the answers now. Mercury is in retrograde so now is a good time to keep exploring. But be in the question until you are fully able to live the answer. And, if like Caitlyn, you’re already there, then keep on being the ultimate example. We all need a light to follow.

Let’s look a little more deeply at each sign and how this full moon could affect you:

TIME FOR SOME NEW MOON REALNESS

510994534c4500bbc9a3d8756b99b47f55dde22a0b5a4c33a2514cb37c8c1490

Every day is an opportunity to get closer to the truth.

It’s time to get closer to the truth of who you are and what it is you exactly want out of this life. Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day. We have responsibilities to tackle. There are jobs to maintain and relationships to attend to. But we have to not lose sight of the greater picture. We did not sprout onto this earth so that we could simply “maintain” and “attend to” our lives. We have to see that we are here to get a sense of our greatness and to manifest from it.  Our goals should not be to “tackle” what’s ahead of us. Instead, we should be striving to actualize the dreams that line our spiritual DNA. We must do all we can to be our best selves.

The way you spend your days says a lot. Perhaps your day to day is full of activities that are pushing you toward achieving your greatness. And if so, I say, “Bravo”. But I also question you and ask whether you’re actually feeling entirely in tune with the path you believe in your heart to be yours at this time. Is your life driven by your inspiration or more so by your desire to survive? You may not even know what unlocking your greatness would look like. If so, then it’s time to ask your inner self that question. If you’ve already asked yourself this and know where you want to head, then clarify that these goals you have color everything you do with your life.

sag-fullmoon

These are the messages of the Sagittarius New Moon.

The Sagittarius New Moon wants you to question your truth and whether you are being completely honest with yourself. Everyone has been feeling an intense inner shift over the last two years, so we have to make sure that we are acting upon all the new information that has been given to us about ourselves. Venus is also involved here so the answers may lie in the people you find yourself surrounded by these days. Are you spending your time with folks that inspire you or with ones who suck your energy? This new moon time is a good chance to really come clean with your deeper self about it.

Who do you welcome into your life and why? If you have a good circle of people, then surround yourself with them this weekend. Allow yourselves to bask in each others lights and motivate one another toward your goals. But if most in your life are downers, well then, you need to ditch them this weekend and remind yourself what it’s like to feel good. It will push you toward getting more in touch with the goals you have and the dreams you want to live out in your life.

live-your-dreams
We need to pay close attention to what is motivating our goals and dreams.

Someone may believe that being his or her best self means being a movie star. But is that propelled by a deep need to create and share those creations with the entire world? Or is it driven by a subconscious need to be seen or heard, perhaps just a remnant of a little seen childhood? Yes, we’re talking deep here. And that is what this Sag New Moon wants of you. Be honest with you. Be true. And then take some action on those truths. And right now, know that you have others who can help you along the way.

Here’s a deeper look for each sign:

Truth Is The New Black

pennstatucky-orange-is-the-new-black

Get to a place where you can say “That’s the real me” and love it.

I just finished watching the second season of Orange is the New Black. It’s an amazing, brilliant television series, and these thirteen episodes gave me all of my life and some even for my next life. If you know it, then you know. If you don’t it’s a Netflix series about women in prison. It delves deeply into their emotional lives and offers fresh, real characters that are relatable and insane. In one scene, a character is assured by someone on the outside that they still remember the person she was before prison. That is how they will remember her and they know that the person she is in prison isn’t the real her. Without pause, she stares them back and disagrees. “That is the real me.” In that moment, she accepts her truth. But is she happy with it?

Cut to me these past few weeks (and forgive me for being absent from writing, but life has gotten hold!), and I am scheduled to death, dealing with an outbreak of shingles, and helping to nurse an ailing boyfriend and dog. Last night, I get home from work and suddenly have this pain in my left eye. What the fuck? I wake up and it’s still there. I look at the eye and it looks fine. Maybe it’s tension or sinus issues. But after some time and a more careful inspection, I see that I have a sty under my bottom eyelid. Again I say, what the fuck? So I try to take it easy. I get a massage. I do some warm compresses. But I know that there’s some business here for me to learn. My body is trying to wake me up. And has been – hello, shingles! So I go to my trusty Louise Hay book to look up the spiritual meaning behind an eye issue.

mr-angry

I am mostly angry because I know that everything I am angry about is bullshit

In “Heal Your Body”, Louise says that I “am looking at life through angry eyes.” What Louise? You don’t know me. I am not an angry person. Okay? What does she know? I then look at myself in the mirror, at my sty. And I nod. I am angry. I am angry that everything feels like a struggle. I am angry that I don’t have more money. I am angry that I don’t make enough time for my creativity. I am angry that everybody else seems to have something good going in their lives but me. And I am mostly angry because I know that everything I am angry about is bullshit. That I can’t compare. That I can’t complain. I can be angry. It’s valid. But I can’t see the world through angry eyes or else I’m just casting shade on it all. And thus I am not seeing life clearly. Now don’t get me wrong, I love to throw shade in the right company. But it ain’t a way to build a life. And it certainly can’t be my truth. However, right now, it is. So what to do about it? What does one do when they accept their truth but see that it needs changing?

Use this full moon energy to reconnect to that authentic essence of you

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is here to get us back in touch with our personal truth so that we can cast off anything that has been obstructing our view of the unique life we are meant to be living. Sure, there may be people in our lives who are causing us strife and slowing things down. Or they are just teaching us some valuable lessons that are forcing us to take on responsibilities and grow up in ways we hadn’t planned on. And these responsibilities may feel like they hinder us from doing the things we want to be doing for ourselves. But that doesn’t mean we have to forget who we truly are deep down. That day job doesn’t have to kill the dream you. And if the day job is in alignment with the dream you, then check if it’s somehow overwhelming the love or home or creative life you want but don’t seem to have time for anymore. Make the time. Use this full moon energy to reconnect to that authentic essence of you and remind yourself of the truth of you. Don’t let go. Don’t give up. Don’t see the world through angry eyes. Get to a place where you can say “That’s the real me” and love it.

Here’s a closer look at the signs and what it means for you:

Speak the Truth or Get Off the Pot!

This Sagittarius full moon is all about releasing your enlightened truth out into the world

I am writing this from a Hacienda in Spain where my boyfriend and I are traveling for a wedding.  At the rehearsal dinner, one of the grooms and I were chatting about the full moon, which will be hitting directly just some hours after he and his partner exchange their vows.  “What does it mean?” he asked.  “It’s in Sagittarius”, I told him.  “Speak the truth.”  His eyes got very wide.  Later, as I sat on a poolside lounge chair staring up at the rising moon, his partner came over to ask how I was doing.  “I heard what you said about the full moon.  Speak the truth you said.”  I nodded.  “That’s all you can do with this one.”  He also widened his eyes with the weight of that proposition.  Before we could get too much farther into it, we were interrupted and the conversation shifted.  But I was left to think that these two want to take this task on.  I mean, it’s their wedding.  The whole point is to stand up before your family and friends and state the honest to God truth about your feelings for the one you love.  And before a gay wedding, there has already been so much “coming clean” that has lead up to the event that the party should be the easy part.  (Or at least as easy as any wedding can be.)  But being honest is scary.  And most times, being honest to others isn’t as hard as being honest to your self.

This Sagittarius full moon is all about releasing your enlightened truth out into the world.  Sometimes we speak and think that we are speaking from our truth, but we’re actually not.  Instead, what we’re really doing is just talking to get through a situation.  We are talking for the sake of it rather than connecting to our more divine self and allowing our words to be guided from that place.  See, this full moon wants our spirit’s to be involved which makes honesty even harder to do.  Because of the current Gemini energy at play, our brains are also operating at a higher level right now, which means we can sometimes talk ourselves into believing a truth that isn’t entirely the case.  So, right now, we must work harder at connecting to our deeper selves so that we can be sure that our hearts and souls are involved along with our minds in making decisions.  Because we can make good decisions right now that can lead to sustainable paths for our current goals.  Again, it comes down to truth.

Come out of hiding about the truth of who you are

What area in your life needs your utmost truth right now?  Perhaps you are covering up the truth with thoughts like “It’s all gonna be alright” or “I’m fine” or “I don’t really believe that, I’m just being silly or fucking around” when you really want to be curling up in a ball and saying “Lord God, help me.”  Or you’re just not dealing with it at all and letting booze, drugs, or a fake relationship squash the pain.  You could also be facing it but feel that you’re struggling with the challenge.  Again, I ask you to turn to truth.

Come out of hiding about the truth of who you are.  Don’t be afraid to feel what you feel and speak what you know in your core to be true.  Show others the thoughts that exist behind the closed door of your mind.  And most importantly, be willing to tell yourself that you accept you with complete and utter love.  If you need to be a freak, so be it.  If you are afraid your friends won’t get it, fuck them.  If you’re partner doesn’t know something about you, share it now.  Because like begets like.  So enlightenment begets enlightenment.  And if you illuminate yourself, then you illuminate your world.  The lights on the path go on, and you can see more clearly where you need to go to make your dreams a reality.  And you can’t deny the truth of a situation because it is lit up for the whole world to see.  Yes, sometimes the truth is scary and painful, but it’s the only way to your personal destiny.  And if you’re reading this, I know that your goal is to find that destiny.

Let’s get a more specific sense of where in your life this could be affecting you:

Full Moon in Virgo. What about it?

Okay.  Full Moon in Virgo.  What about it?

There has been so much talk about the upcoming full moon on March 19th, also known as the “supermoon”.  Apparently, it will be 8 percent closer to the earth than most full moons, so it may appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual.  Some are speculating that, due to gravitational forces at play, it could also end up causing more environmental catastrophes around the world.  At this point, who can be sure about what the world will bring us and what will be its cause.  I just think that there’s so much pent-up fear and frustration around the recent global events that people are looking for some way to feel in control of what’s to come.  They want something to believe in so they know where to place the blame.  And that’s natural.  We don’t all want to feel at the mercy of some unknown entity, so if we can make anything the moon’s fault, or your mom’s fault, or Britney Spears’s fault, then at least we have a picture to pin on the dart board.  But is that a real solution for the inner anxiety that is guiding our thoughts, actions, and ideas?  Not really.
