The Full Moon in Aries 2019

IMG_4427

Nothing phenomenal ever came of simply standing still.

And don’t you want to be phenomenal?

The full moon occurs in Aries at a peak moment in Libra season, inviting you to proclaim “I Am”, and to find creative ways to release these truths out into the world. And we have no choice but to connect to our truths, the good and the bad. Some of our truths are in fact just lies that we’ve allowed to masquerade as our truths for far too long. For one, it’s easy to tell someone, or even yourself, “I’m happy”, when you know that you’re not. And maybe it’s not that you’re unhappy, but perhaps just unsatisfied with some area of life. A relationship. Your work. The health routine you’re bored of or can’t simply seem to hold onto. A bad habit you can’t break (sometimes also a relationship). That fight you had with a spouse, parent, or sibling. This full moon day (and the couple days following) can be an energetic window of opportunity. A time to say, “I am ready to take responsibility for my own personal growth, and to change.”

A Gemini Season New Moon, 2019

IMG_1204.JPG

Try to make decisions more from a place of presence and intuition

The Gemini New Moon occurs on Monday, June 3rd and sets the stage for an exciting June. The new moon invites you to take a closer look at the inner conversations you’re having with yourself. Consider how you may be allowing habitual thought patters to take hold of you, to the point where you can’t separate them from your true inner voice. It can become so easy to start identifying with the constant words in your head – the ones that tell you what to do, where to go, and how you should word things in order to achieve a desired outcome from another. But take this time to hit pause and actually listen to the thoughts and beliefs you’ve been identifying with as of late. You may just find that your mind has been running an age’s old tape, one that was put together from a place of insecurity, fear, or lack of belief. And, now that outdated voice is calling the shots and making decisions on behalf of your future.

Now’s the time to use your mind for good. Do your best to become hyper aware of that voice in your head and pay close attention to its messages. Erase the ones that no longer serve your well-being and replace them with words of encouragement. Try to make decisions more from a place of presence and intuition. Ask yourself, does this choice feel good for me? Then, act from there.

Turn toward those who inspire you and support your goals. They may be teachers for you in how to rewire your thought patterns. And connect with those who show up for you during this process. If you’re living from a place of more presence, you make room to notice those around you more, as well as attract new or returning folks also living from that place. That’s the energy you want to be surrounded by right now. The people who have sucked your energy and optimism no longer have a place in your life.

During this new moon, set some new, mental intentions for yourself.

Examples are:

As you lay in bed to go to sleep at night, remember three moments from your day that fill you with gratitude.

Get a daily morning mantra (mine’s “Today is going to an amazing day!”)

Try some mirror affirmations before you finish getting ready in the morning.  Choose an empowering, self-affirming statement to repeat 5-10 times to yourself in the mirror before setting off on your day.

This new moon is really setting the stage for the rest of Gemini season and the transition we’ll be making in the second half of June when we swing into Cancer season. But this June kicks off with Gemini season, and it certainly did not come to play. When the sun’s moving through Gemini, it’s time to place communication and connection at the forefront. With others, for sure, but even more importantly with yourself. Specifically, this month wants you to pay attention to the relationship between your heart and head. How is what you’re feeling helping to guide your decisions? Are you giving more power to analysis than you are to instinct? And how are your choices affecting the bigger picture of where you want to head with the rest of this year, and with your life? Though Gemini is ruled by the mind and likes to get things done, it will be important to give weight to your heart’s desires. That is if you want to actualize the great opportunity for growth and transformation we all have available to us this year.

As we kick off this month, a bunch of planets are having loud, productive conversations with each other. Mercury and Jupiter are in a big old chat with Neptune, which asks you to turn toward stillness and silence when your mind tries to get the best of you. You must head toward making choices for your life that feel good for your well-being, and not toward what is simply sensible. This may involve some big risks, so you have to be clear in order for your gut to have a voice at the table. If you find yourself existing solely in your head, take what I call a “silence time out.” Close your eyes. Breathe and count slowly to ten. And then, just allow the leftover silence to float into your head, even if just for a moment, so you can be reminded that the words in there don’t rule you. In fact, you rule them. So, choose to fill your head with affirmations of personal growth, self-love, and acceptance. That’s how the mind can be a tool instead of your leader.

We are all being called to level up in some way and to take more responsibility for our dreams and goals in 2019

If allowed, thoughts will just talk your fears and doubts and decisions into circles without achieving any results or insights. Most of the time, our thoughts are fueled by doubt or worry. And neither should have a voice when making important life decisions. If you need some more help detaching from those thoughts, go and get some ‘out in the world’ experience and let outer connection fuel your current round of self-inquiry. Get yourself into nature and let it guide you back toward inner harmony. You may also talk to someone trusted about what’s going on so that you can get a new perspective on your situation. Or, just simply turn away from asking your “self” and ask spirit for some guidance. Then, get quiet and keep your eyes wide open to the symbols and signs being shown your way. And really trust them when they show up!

Neptune, the planet that rules all things spirit, is also actively chatting it up with Venus, Saturn, and Pluto at the start of the month, informing more of the greater transformation at hand for this year. In some way, we are all being called to level up in some way and to take more responsibility for our dreams and goals in 2019. As mentioned earlier, consider and perhaps be inspired by those who show up for you around the new moon and the week following. Let your interactions show you whose energy doesn’t mix well with yours and do what you can to create some distance there. There will be others who feel like kin and will remind you that you aren’t alone in the struggle. Those are the ones to partner with in June. Know that a lot of us are out there, deep in the trenches of self-discovery and personal growth with you, so it’s okay to ask for an empathetic hand when you need one. And, they may even have some wisdom, a clue, or a job to share with you.

Let your intuitive self be the ruler of the roost this month

Though June does want you to focus your energy inward more, you can’t help but to collaborate and explore when needed. Again, trust your gut instincts when it comes to the people you encounter and the places you go. I can’t stress enough how important it is right now to let your intuitive self be the ruler of the roost this month. It will be easy to let your mind be the guide. It’s what we have all grown to trust and know, and Gemini thrives in it. But you have to learn to use it for good. And your highest self does not exist in a bubble near your brain. It’s sourced from spirit. Others may think you’re nuts when you’re guided by your inner light because some of your moves just won’t make sense to them. But, trust within yourself is all you truly need. And if you don’t trust a move, by the way, then don’t make it. No one is saying you must change now. Transformation can be slow. Evolution didn’t happen in one night. But you can make some forward motion this month if you challenge yourself to lean optimistically toward your dreams.

In all, don’t be afraid to let the world see the authentic you this month. No one is perfect or has it all figured out. And we all need the help of others to get by. But remember, it starts with the help we give ourselves. Do what you can to use that little voice in your head to send words of loving kindness your way. Look directly into your eyes each and every day and say, “I love you. I got you.” It all starts there.

That Aries Full Moon When You Had an Emotional Rebellion

daily-horoscopes

I have always loved astrology.

Ever since my mom introduced me to the horoscopes at the back of the Los Angeles Daily News. But in 1999, on a whim, I took a job at a metaphysical bookshop. On my first day there, the store manager Angelique, a sweet witchy diva, told me that I wouldn’t be behind the counter forever. “You’ll be working here as an astrologer someday.” Yeah, okay lady, I thought to myself. Cut to months later, it’s my 23rd birthday and I’m reluctantly getting a past life reading with a beautiful Brit named Michelle. She was the type of reader who would book up months in advance but she’d had a rare, last minute cancellation and the time had gone to me. Barely minutes into the reading, she had hooked me with extremely personal insights that no one could have just guessed on. Toward the end of the reading, she asked me about my relationship with astrology. I thought back on Angelique’s words. “I like to read my horoscope.” She laughed and said that I should study it. “You’ve been an astrologer many times over. It will come back to you in no time.” I shrugged at the information but figured why not. I quickly dug into my study of the planets and their ancient divination system. Six months later, I was out from behind the counter and working as a full time astrologer. It has been with me since.

Owning my place as an astrologer took a lot of time and courage. It was challenging enough coming out to people as gay, but coming out as an astrologer presented a whole new level of awkward. Sometimes it was easy. People would find it unique or interesting. Of course, they usually wanted to know what I could tell them about them. But there were also times of being joked about or dismissed. So much so, that I abandoned the work for a short time. With time and friendly encouragement, I have come to realize that it has always been a part of me, and that won’t ever change. I certainly don’t claim to know how astrology entirely works, but I do know that it works for me and offers me extremely meaningful connections with the people I have the pleasure of working with on their charts. I also know that if I chose not to own this piece of myself, I would be denying a huge part of me that wants to blossom, whether just based from this lifetime or countless other life times before.

I am an astrologer, and I love it.

The Full Moon in Aries wants us to fully embrace the pieces of ourselves that we may not entirely understand but that make us wholly unique

Aries is all about new beginnings. It’s the first sign of the zodiac. Therefore, it can be a little naïve and blind to reality. But that also means that it isn’t tainted by others’ perceptions of reality. Aries feels free to boldly create the reality it envisions. It can charge forth sometimes without care for others around, but it also hopes to inspire others to follow in its path. Aries has a strong leadership quality, as people are attracted to its tenacity and confidence, but it wants to lead people to their own personal rebellion. With Uranus, the planet of inspiration and uniqueness, joining the moon at this full moon time, it amplifies that Aries boldness. It isn’t the time for your outer personality and inner emotional self to war against each other. The two must embrace and integrate. Your sun (soul) and moon (heart) must dance together during this time, meaning you can’t be one person out in the world and another when alone at home. This separation of you will no longer fly.

This is emotional rebellion time. It’s time to feel your passions, goals, and desires as if for the first time. Fall in love all over again. Push yourself to take risks with how you feel. Commit to each moment in your life with your whole heart. Stop filtering yourself for fear of judgment. Fuck the haters. The haters are just a reflection of your own insecurities. And hell, sometimes the greatest hater to your life is you. So you gotta stop that shit. Use this full moon time to get real deep with yourself and communicate about what is really meaningful to you. Ask yourself, “What do I want to define me and my life moving forward?” Wonder what life could be like if no one was watching. No one was judging or scolding or side-eyeing. Just you, no holds barred. No self-imposed limitations on who you could be, who you could love, what you could accomplish. Now how can you bring that forth into your real world life?

Here are some brief offerings of help, per sign: Continue reading “That Aries Full Moon When You Had an Emotional Rebellion”

That Sagittarius Full Moon When Caitlyn Jenner Showed Us the Way

556c7a154ae56e586e457d0e_t-vf-cover-bruce-jenner-july-2015

Living is giving the world your most authentic you, all the time, in the moment

As you all know by now, Caitlyn Jenner has been introduced to the world, and she is pretty damn gorgeous. Many are shouting praise for her bravery, while others scoff at her decision. Some may even go so far as to say cruel, nasty things about her and her transition. Yes, I am looking at you, Fox News. However, in the end, none of it really matters to her process. Yes, it’s amazing for her to feel the support. She deserves it. And really, Caitlyn is forging major change in the mainstream world with her courageous and very public transformation. Personally, I’m in awe of her. Yet, what matters most is that she is making time in her precious life to live in the entirety of her truth. Whether she does so in front of billions or was doing so in a small town, it doesn’t fully matter to her life journey. What matters is that she is finally allowing herself to exist in her complete authenticity. And that is what we should all aspire to do.

We all must live in our unique truth. But to do so, we must first explore, then understand, and ultimately accept the nature of our unique truth. Some of us are afraid to probe too deeply. We accept the realities of our lives as they are presented to us and ignore the voices inside, urging us to live differently, more freely. We become afraid of what our families, our friends, our peers, our churches, our businesses will think of us. We cower from the honesty in our hearts to appease the eyes of those around us. But that is not living. Living is giving the world your most authentic you, all the time, in the moment.

The confusions in your life are illusions

The Sagittarius Full Moon wants to inspire you to release your most authentic self onto the world. Now, you may be saying, “I am me. This is it.” But then in another breath, you go on about how you’re confused about your career, or your relationship, or how to best manage your health. And that is because you are fighting a silent war with your truth. The Sagittarius Full Moon wants to remind you that the confusions in your life are illusions. You just need to wave them away with some honest self-reflection. And a good old-fashioned chat with a trusted somebody never hurt either.

So, where are you in the process? Perhaps you need to explore a bit more into what exactly is your authentic truth. Get quiet with yourself. Ask some questions. “Do I love the direction of my life?” Do I love me in all that I do?” Maybe you have explored further and have that deeper knowledge. Now, how do you grow to understand it better so you can put it into action? How do you gain the complete acceptance so that you can just live it openly? Don’t beat yourself up for not having all the answers now. Mercury is in retrograde so now is a good time to keep exploring. But be in the question until you are fully able to live the answer. And, if like Caitlyn, you’re already there, then keep on being the ultimate example. We all need a light to follow.

Let’s look a little more deeply at each sign and how this full moon could affect you:

The First Full Moon of 2015

new_years-resized-600

The path toward our goals will continue to illuminate under the guide of that full moon light

Every start to a new year seems to begin the same way. There’s usually a diet or new exercise routine involved. Then there’s the pledge to approach work in a more confident, productive way. Ultimately, it’s always about letting go of old, lame habits and ushering in new, more life-affirming ones that will make you and me the greatest version of ourselves that we can be. But if you’re like me, you may usually have trouble holding up to the commitments you’ve put on yourself, thus placing a veil of failure on your new year. Or you just decide to forgo the whole thing entirely and swear off any sort of “resolution”, saying they’re pointless. Which is really just code for “I give up.” Well given the astrological blueprint laid out for this first full moon of 2015, you can actually avoid both of these pitfalls and truly see a powerful personal transformation this year. And I so want that for you.

With this full moon in Cancer, it’s at its most powerful. The moon is the governor of your internal life. She controls the tides of the oceans in the same way she controls the tides of your heart. Her power allows strong feelings to wash in and cover the shore of your life. You experience them as they bubble and froth at the surface. But then, they wash away and offer a moment of stillness and peace. With the moon at its fullest, this process is amplified. The waves of your emotions are greater. And their strength is greater, which offers the chance to wash more away. So anything that has been stuck on your shore, just baking in the light of day, can now be taken out to sea and pulled away from your life for good. Wouldn’t that be nice?

full moonOverWater

With this full moon, you have a chance to let go of the old tired mentalities that have left you clinging to the feelings of the past

So what inner bullshit do you need to get clear of so that you can experience a more serene, focused inner life this year? As we know, change begins within. And just wanting a new beginning is a new beginning. It all begins in the spirit and the mind. With this full moon, you have a chance to let go of the old tired mentalities that have left you clinging to the feelings of the past. They are what stop you from evolving. Because even when you get that new job or relationship, you still find yourself responding in the same, unhealthy ways when you get to feeling some kind of way. And then you’re hitting that wall of failure that keeps you from wanting to commit to new beginnings in the first place. So what if we just eliminate the middle men of doubt and insecurity?

It’s time to truly allow ourselves the chance to aspire to the heights of our dreams and believe with our whole heart that we can have them. This won’t come without conflict. The path won’t be void of roadblocks. But if we’re fully honoring our own uniqueness and giving the heart exactly what it wants, then we will see these challenges as opportunities for personal growth. And the path toward our goals will continue to illuminate under the guide of that full moon light. Just believe in yourself, more than you ever have. I know that it can be scary to fully commit to you and what you want in your life. But in the words of someone great, “Fuck fear.” You’re greater than fear. And you’re greater than you believe you are in this very moment. So step into the next moment knowing that and you’re off.

Here’s a brief look at how to approach for each sign:

A Super Full Moon, and It’s Way Bigger Than You.

images

We are here to affect our lives, but more importantly, the lives of those around us.

It’s a full moon in Aquarius. It’s happening right now. And it’s a Supermoon, which means it’s the closest full moon we’ll physically have to the earth this year. So, the effects of it can be pretty great. And pretty strong. For as the moon affects the ocean’s tides, it also affects the inner tides of our being. And with it being in Aquarius, we have to strive to focus its energy outward. We can’t just sit on it and keep it within. So what is this moon about then?

Well, we’ve moved into a Leo state, which can make us all a bit self-absorbed. And we should be, to a degree. We have ideas, goals, and responsibilities to tackle. Some of us are starting new chapters in various areas of our lives while others of us are closing the door on outdated ways of being. So we have to have some focus on us and what we need. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that we are spiritual beings. That means we can’t get lost in the ideas, goals, and responsibilities to a point that we forget that they are all just experiences we must take on in order to evolve. It’s not about the thing. It’s about what doing the thing has to teach us. And in turn, how it plays into our greater mission. And at the end of the day, our greater mission isn’t just about us. We are here to affect our lives, but more importantly, the lives of those around us.

You are bigger than your life. Don’t ever forget it.

I had the pleasure of spending a recent afternoon with my mom, an Aquarius. And as we sat chowing down on gluten-free empanadas and drinking almond milk lattes (cuz that’s how we roll), my mom told me how she had sparked to a realization. “I am in everyone’s life for a reason. Yours, your father’s, your sisters.”, she told me. “We came together into this life for something that’s not just about me.” Smiling, I agreed. Yes, we aren’t just here to get ours and get out. We are here as messengers to the ones we share our days with, and vice versa. And the Aquarius Full Moon is the perfect time to honor that. And to be in the now of whatever contracts we set up and with whom in this lifetime. And to do so in a way that is still in alignment with that soul mission you know in your gut is yours to master.

What is your soul mission? And how are you working to make it not just about you? Remember, it’s bigger than that. You are bigger than your life. Don’t ever forget it. And upon reading this, do something that honors it.

And now for some greater clarity for each sign, here is some astrology realness:

Truth Is The New Black

pennstatucky-orange-is-the-new-black

Get to a place where you can say “That’s the real me” and love it.

I just finished watching the second season of Orange is the New Black. It’s an amazing, brilliant television series, and these thirteen episodes gave me all of my life and some even for my next life. If you know it, then you know. If you don’t it’s a Netflix series about women in prison. It delves deeply into their emotional lives and offers fresh, real characters that are relatable and insane. In one scene, a character is assured by someone on the outside that they still remember the person she was before prison. That is how they will remember her and they know that the person she is in prison isn’t the real her. Without pause, she stares them back and disagrees. “That is the real me.” In that moment, she accepts her truth. But is she happy with it?

Cut to me these past few weeks (and forgive me for being absent from writing, but life has gotten hold!), and I am scheduled to death, dealing with an outbreak of shingles, and helping to nurse an ailing boyfriend and dog. Last night, I get home from work and suddenly have this pain in my left eye. What the fuck? I wake up and it’s still there. I look at the eye and it looks fine. Maybe it’s tension or sinus issues. But after some time and a more careful inspection, I see that I have a sty under my bottom eyelid. Again I say, what the fuck? So I try to take it easy. I get a massage. I do some warm compresses. But I know that there’s some business here for me to learn. My body is trying to wake me up. And has been – hello, shingles! So I go to my trusty Louise Hay book to look up the spiritual meaning behind an eye issue.

mr-angry

I am mostly angry because I know that everything I am angry about is bullshit

In “Heal Your Body”, Louise says that I “am looking at life through angry eyes.” What Louise? You don’t know me. I am not an angry person. Okay? What does she know? I then look at myself in the mirror, at my sty. And I nod. I am angry. I am angry that everything feels like a struggle. I am angry that I don’t have more money. I am angry that I don’t make enough time for my creativity. I am angry that everybody else seems to have something good going in their lives but me. And I am mostly angry because I know that everything I am angry about is bullshit. That I can’t compare. That I can’t complain. I can be angry. It’s valid. But I can’t see the world through angry eyes or else I’m just casting shade on it all. And thus I am not seeing life clearly. Now don’t get me wrong, I love to throw shade in the right company. But it ain’t a way to build a life. And it certainly can’t be my truth. However, right now, it is. So what to do about it? What does one do when they accept their truth but see that it needs changing?

Use this full moon energy to reconnect to that authentic essence of you

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is here to get us back in touch with our personal truth so that we can cast off anything that has been obstructing our view of the unique life we are meant to be living. Sure, there may be people in our lives who are causing us strife and slowing things down. Or they are just teaching us some valuable lessons that are forcing us to take on responsibilities and grow up in ways we hadn’t planned on. And these responsibilities may feel like they hinder us from doing the things we want to be doing for ourselves. But that doesn’t mean we have to forget who we truly are deep down. That day job doesn’t have to kill the dream you. And if the day job is in alignment with the dream you, then check if it’s somehow overwhelming the love or home or creative life you want but don’t seem to have time for anymore. Make the time. Use this full moon energy to reconnect to that authentic essence of you and remind yourself of the truth of you. Don’t let go. Don’t give up. Don’t see the world through angry eyes. Get to a place where you can say “That’s the real me” and love it.

Here’s a closer look at the signs and what it means for you:

Change or Get Off The Cross

spiritual-path

When you make that intense promise to live greater, your life steps up to meet you

In my last post about the full moon, I wrote that the planets were “moving in ways to make challenging angles to each other. Some are getting along. Some are pushing each other. For us, that means we are being pushed and prodded toward our higher calling.” That’s right, my loves. At this time, we are being strongly urged to grow toward our greater self. And that full moon eclipse was the gateway to it. I mean, did you notice how everyone seemed to be talking about it, even if not in an astrological or spiritual way? They were posting about it on Facebook or taking pictures for their Instagram feed. And it makes sense, because it looked really cool. But also, that full “blood” moon was a massive moment for us all on a deeper level. So subconsciously, we all felt a gravitational pull to her. The full moon eclipse was an opening, leading us down the passageway toward our life’s next great chapter. So now how do we fully step into it?

Recently, I attended this ridiculously amazing restorative yoga class. I’ve been before and it’s always a brilliant experience, but this time it really took me on a deep, meditative journey. Its culmination was a visualization exercise that pushed us to connect with each of the four elements. All the students were asked to picture ourselves as each element in whatever way came to us. At first, I was a huge tranquil sea. Then, I became a cozy fire pit on a cool summer night. I was then the scent of jasmine and lavender coasting on the roof of a spring breeze. And finally I morphed into the dirt that lay at the feet of a family of giant redwoods. I essentially became the earth, in all of its varied, elemental glory. This exercise was so soothing and left me feeling incredibly balanced. For I realized that if I was all four of these elements, I was also the space in the center of them. And it is only from that center space where any of us has the ability to tap into all of the elements of oneself in a clear, balanced way.

grand-cross-04-15am-gmt-23-april-2014-london

The time for change is now

Between now and the end of April, four of the major planets are creating an elemental cross in the sky, and we are all finding ourselves in the midst of trying to balance between them. In astrology, it’s referred to as a Grand Cross, though some astrologers are punctuating it with feelings of Armageddon or Y2K. Now don’t get me wrong, it is intense. I mean, aren’t you feeling pretty damn intense these days? But you shouldn’t approach this time with fear. Rather, you should engage it with a sense of openness and a curiosity for how to become a better you. We all just need to learn how to still ourselves so that we can attain the lessons being presented to us. The time for change is now.

So what planets are at play here and how does it really affect you?

Kill Your Inner “Blah Blah Blah”

This Gemini full moon wants you to trust that you already know the truth for your life

So I end up having a glass of wine and some avocado fries with my man and his lovely Gemini friend of many years. We toast to the Gemini full moon, and she asks, “What does it mean?” Now I have been mulling it over for the last few days and, until that point, I hadn’t been able to distill it down. But in that moment, I just uttered, “It’s time to let go of the chatter.” She paused, then nodded and sipped her wine. “There’s a lot of chatter.” And in analyzing the chart for this current full moon some more, as well as just being a person in the world right now, I must agree with that blurted out statement.

It’s time to let go of the chatter, everyone. Sure, shift is in the air. We are all in the midst of some major transformation, whether we’re having babies, changing jobs, moving homes, or adjusting our self-perceptions to align with who we want to be. And that kind of bold evolution will cause our minds to work overtime with ideas, worry, and questions. Thoughts get cluttered, and we easily confuse that deeply honest voice of truth with the lesser ego-centered voices that stem from fear, pain, and hurt. And it sucks, because they both kind of sound alike and it can get to the point where one can’t tell the difference. But let’s face it. If you just settle down long enough and ask yourself any question, the correct answer is usually the first thing that comes up.

Kill your inner blah blah blah and let the soul’s voice emerge

This Gemini full moon wants you to trust that you already know the truth for your life. So all of this questioning, second-guessing, and moments of confusion are really just procrastination masquerading as your thoughts. So kill your inner blah blah blah and let the soul’s voice emerge. Believe that it has your best interest in mind, and that it won’t allow you to step into something that will destroy your heart, endanger your body, or ridicule your existence. Know that your personal growth is already in motion. You just have to be still long enough to get caught up in the current. Because if you’re flailing about, and that’s probably what you’re mind is doing most of the time, then you’ll never be light enough to be swept away to your destiny.

Let’s look at each of the signs and get a better sense of how this could be personally affecting you:

This New Moon Is So All About You

If you don’t feel worthy of applause, then you ultimately keep it from your life

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of doing an afternoon of readings for a lovely group of people.  One of them was a double Leo, which means there was a strong need for recognition and approval within her.  Of course, there was also a ton of creativity present, but the fact that she hadn’t gotten enough of it out into the world meant that her soul was starving for its time in the spotlight.  All Leo’s need it.  To some, that drive to be front and center can seem too self-serving.  But for Leo, that’s just part of the astrological DNA.  So unless one’s being an asshole about it, there’s no reason to shy away from that desire for attention.  I stressed to her that there was nothing wrong about wanting to be recognized for her gifts and talents.  In fact, for her, it was a must.  The only reason she wasn’t allowing it was because of some subconscious notion that it was wrong to desire a spotlight.  And that’s all wed to self-worth.  Because the truth is, if you don’t feel worthy of applause, then you ultimately keep it from your life.

At the end of my long day, the hostess squeezed my shoulder and said, “You’re really good at this.”  I smiled and deflected it with a comment about how great her and her friends were for being so receptive to the readings.  She proceeded to say it a couple of more times.  “You are really really good at this, Angel.”  After about the third time, something clicked.  It was as if a voice inside said, “Hear her.”  And I did.  I finally heard what she was trying to tell me.  (See, I also have Leo issues.)  In that moment, I connected to my soul’s core and with my whole heart, welcomed her emotional gratitude and recognition of my talent.  I deemed myself worthy of her applause.  Full of warmth, I smiled and said “Thank you.”  I then packed up my things and left her home, feeling so wonderful for the opportunity to share my gifts with others.

Now is the time to shift focus and give yourself the attention you deserve

The Leo New Moon is here, and it wants us to connect with our deeper need to be accepted and loved for who we are and what we have to offer the world around us.  To best understand what our greatest gift is, we must look to the thing that brings us our purest joy.  Now I’m not talking about that bottle of wine you may suck back after a long day of work.  I am talking about that activity or time when pristine, soulful joy rises up and overcomes you.  It’s the specific thing that stimulates that place in your heart where creativity and romance lives.  And it’s where you need to open yourself up to receiving appreciation and respect.

This also means making yourself vulnerable to your personal truth.  Because if you are feeling disrespected or unacknowledged somewhere in your life, that may be Leo showing you that you’re barking up the wrong tree.  Your greatest gift is perhaps just lying dormant or is at least being underutilized.  If that’s the case, then now is the time to shift focus and give yourself the attention you deserve.

Let’s take a closer look at each sign and see how this could be affecting you:
