That Sagittarius Full Moon II, 2016

Our greatest goal is to get in touch with the core of ourselves

Over the weekend, I was at a party and the conversation turned to the full moon, which then led it to turn to me. “So what does it mean, Angel?” Please note that I had probably had a few drinks at this point, but I’m always game to get into some astrology talk. “Well, it’s the second one in Sagittarius, which makes it even more meaningful. It’s all about truth. Deal with your truth or get the fuck off the pot.” Everyone laughed but then someone chimed in, “Isn’t that what they’re always about? Get in touch with your truth?” Someone else exclaimed in agreement. “Yeah, it’s always the same thing.” At the time, I belted out some response about how it’s always about truth because that’s what most people need to hear. Most are not in touch with their truth, which makes life harder for the rest of us. I don’t know if I made much sense at the time, and I agree that it can feel like every spiritual message is about getting in touch with your true self. But that’s for a reason. It’s because it’s true. Our greatest goal is to get in touch with the core of ourselves, and every day offers an opportunity to connect to that personal, inherent truth so that we can actualize our most valuable self.

Sagittarius is the truth seeker, so to have two full moons in that sign means that the universal energy is urging us to release our greatest truths out into the world. That can come in the form of an important relationship conversation, a creative project, or a deep internal realization that we must come to terms with inside our heart, mind, or spirit. Whatever it is isn’t easy. A lot in our lives may feel at odds with each other right now. Our home life may be sparring in some way with our work life. Or our internal self may want to do one thing that our external life isn’t assisting us in achieving. It may just be that the version of us that our past created is trying to give way to a version of us that we want to be now, but for some reason, we are unable to let go of whatever thought pattern, habit, relationship, job, or what have you that is holding us back. The genesis of our struggle isn’t always easy to connect to, but once we dig into the closet that houses all of our crap, we can uncover it and make way to free ourselves to be entirely who we want to be.

The Sagittarius moon wants us to know that the more in touch we are with our truth, the clearer our path will be before us

So yes, I know a lot of this can sound broad and leave you wondering what the hell do I do about all this. But if you really take the time to understand yourself and your inner workings, you can make these general ideas concrete. And you will realize that it’s just not worth wasting time in this life. We really do allow ourselves to be clouded by the shit of our past, whether we know it or not. That is the human way. Our conditioning can keep us paralyzed from moving forward. The Sagittarius moon wants us to know that the more in touch we are with our truth, the clearer our path will be before us.

Here are some closer looks at the signs and how this full moon is affecting them:

The key to this current Scorpio Full Moon is to acknowledge the signs and recognize where you need growth and change in your life

I write this from a plane 33,000 feet in the air, en route to Los Angeles from New York. The first time I made this trip was over fifteen years ago, in 1999 (Prince reference – we just lost him today, may he rest). I had gone with some friends and had one of the most magical trips of my life. We dressed up and went to classy bars. We stayed in a jazz-themed hostel across the street from Central Park. We ate pizza every day and didn’t give a fuck. Magic. It was during that transformative trip I realized that I had no choice but to move to New York City. Two years later I did. That too was magical. The plan was to move there, make theater, get a play onto Broadway, and become a true artist. Needless to say, things didn’t play out that way.

Two years later, I was living in a run-down walk up on 7th St and Avenue C, and there was no glamour to be found. I still had my dreams, though I felt like they were rejecting me. I did write and direct a play, but it was downtown, far from Broadway. In hindsight, still a triumph, yet at the time, it felt like a disaster. After about two years in NYC, I went home to L.A. to visit family and friends, in hopes they wouldn’t see my sadness. However, it showed. I had been working part-time at a movie studio in New York and was in love with it, but I didn’t see myself working a full-time office job. That wouldn’t be the way to true artistry. But in L.A., I saw many of my friends working in the business and enjoying it. And the more I thought about it, the more I thought that working in film would be a larger way to reach people. Maybe I should just work my way into that business and see if that was my path to storytelling.

NYvsLA.jpg

I went back to New York confused. I loved the city so much. I loved all it represented. But perhaps I had put in my time there, gained the necessary knowledge, and now it was time to allow the stream of life to take me in a different direction. But that would mean everything I believed about myself wasn’t true. It would mean that I would have to let go of the life I thought I was going to live. I would need to shift my perception of me in some way. I would have to transform in a major way. Could I do that?

I rode over the Williamsburg Bridge from JFK, contemplating my future, telling myself that if the Universe had a plan for me, if I was meant to leave NYC, it would illuminate the path. It was late and went to bed, determined to pay attention to the signs. The next morning, I awoke to my roommate knocking on my make-shift door. “You up?” I responded and she said we needed to talk. “I know you just got home but I don’t think this should wait. And I didn’t want to bug you on your trip.” A pause. “I’ve sold the apartment. We have to be out in a month.” My life lit up. I stood up on the bed and started bouncing all over it. “Are you okay?” she asked, a curious look on her face.

I saw the sign. “I’m great. I’m moving back to L.A.!”

IMG_3689.jpg

A month later, I was on this flight again, flying west. Once in L.A., it all unfolded. I healed some old wounds with my parents. I got a reputable film business job on very little experience in less than six months. I guess you could say it was right place, right time. Now, the transition wasn’t all easy. The mental shift took much time. I mourned the loss of my New York dream, beating myself up for giving up. I eventually did learn to recognize that I had realized my dream, but just in the way that I needed to. And I had also let go and trusted the Universe when it spoke to me. And now some dozen years later, I feel in the flow of my path more than I have in some time. I have learned to embrace change, and the growth of new dreams.

The key to this current Scorpio Full Moon is to acknowledge the signs and recognize where you need growth and change in your life. Somewhere in your life, you need to let go of a version of yourself that you’ve been holding onto so that you can embrace the transformation that wants to take hold of you at this time. I know that for me, I told myself that I had to either be a “true artist” or be behind the scenes, in the shadows. And for some time, I’ve been operating solely from the latter. However, I know now that I am an artist who also stands back and helps others. I can be all things. The only one telling me that I can’t is me, and it’s time to blow that bullshit out the window. I’m leaving it here, 33,000 feet in the air, where it cannot reach me.

fullmoonscorpio

So what version of you do you need to release so that you can ground into the true you? Today is that day. Commit to your personal growth so that you can evolve and get closer to the authenticity that is in your heart, in your soul, and needs to be expressed. Maybe it’s career-related. Perhaps you need to step up and let a relationship evolve, or dissolve. You could be contemplating a move but just feel afraid to take on all that it will entail. Or there could just be a really challenging conversation you’re avoiding that could ultimately be the key to a great personal evolution.

There are messages being delivered to you by conversations and experiences in your life. Maybe even in dreams. So dig into them. Don’t be taken advantage of by your insecurities. They will hold you back because change is their greatest fear. And you don’t have time for that. Also, insecurities sometimes take on the form of people in your life. So if someone is reflecting that onto you, consider how you’re meant to deal with it, whether it’s removing him or her from your life, or standing up for yourself.

I have faith in you. In the words of that legend, Prince, “And if the elevator tries to bring you down, Go crazy, punch a higher floor.” You got this.

That Aries New Moon, 2016

7520213660_4a282e426e_o

This morning was the New Moon in Aries, so today is an emotional New Year’s Day for us all. It’s an opportunity to reset your internal self and connect more deeply to the person you want to be projecting out into the world. That basically means that now is the time to take all that you have learned about yourself this past year, the good and the bad, and reconfigure it so that you can release what isn’t working and start amplifying what is working. That means confronting some pieces of yourself that you just keep holding onto (feelings, jobs, relationships, habits, etc.) and you know are not serving your best self, and just letting those motherfuckers go. It’s time. You need to make it so. This isn’t one of those times where you sit back and let Jesus take the wheel. You are in the driver’s seat of this life, my friend. So drive.

A big piece of this process is being up front with yourself about where you’re at right now. Ask yourself, “Are you happy?” If you’re not entirely so, then dig into what area of your life is making you unhappy. I know it isn’t easy for all of us to do this kind of internal work on ourselves. Or we feel we’ve done it to death. Either way, start anew and digest this question so you can be present to the answers you are harvesting right now, in this moment. Then start to see what areas of your life are suffering. Where do you need to focus more? What outdated shit is blocking the flow? Can you be adult enough to own these truths and make the necessary changes? The good thing is, in this moment, the planets are supporting this process for all of us so we should all take advantage.

f71cde9f6cd07e70bbf2e7acfac45617

You can’t expect new results from old, tired actions. You just can’t. You can’t expect that new job or man or woman or home or feeling of happiness to come in if you’re approaching it all with the same ideas and attitudes. And yes, it’s easy to say, “Just change the way you think about something and the life change you desire will smoothly follow.” But the more you get into that flow, the flow of believing in yourself and that you’re deserving of your goals, the more you will see them come into your life. And also just admit it, the old shit you’ve been doing and thinking ain’t working anyway so why not try out something new. A fresh approach is always a smart move for any blocked project. So why shouldn’t that work on some element of your life? This is the kind of thinking you should be engaging in for this New Moon.

There was a time when I suffered from insane anxiety. I’m talking crippling, debilitating anxiety. I used to believe that any day would be my last. One day was an earthquake. The next, a heart attack. There was even a day where I found myself curled up against a wall on a very busy sidewalk, afraid that I was dying. I must’ve just looked like some lost, homeless youth, since it was San Francisco in the 90’s and people were curled up on the sidewalk on a daily basis. But that didn’t stop me from having these thoughts and anxious feelings. I was just convinced that my world was going to end.

6358686379502298811072223128_b5524f99e5347e977e3d4f12080e1631_XL

During this time, I was writing a play and working out all my angst through it. I was also working at this metaphysical bookshop near my house. One night, I stayed late to help with some inventory. On the way home, it started to drizzle. I only lived a few blocks away, so it didn’t bother me. It was two am and the streets were empty. I felt as if the city was mine. At an intersection, my walk light lit up and I stepped into the street to cross. I didn’t realize that the car coming toward me wasn’t aware of my existence, and I was struck and thrown fifteen feet into the intersection. It was a hit and run. A witness said that after landing, I stood up and walked out of the intersection, into some nearby bushes. My memory begins from there, with people standing around me, flashing lights, and an EMT asking me questions. I’ll spare you the details, but I didn’t look pretty. The EMT however was, so I of course asked him to hold my hand through the entire ambulance ride. He obliged. Again, it was San Francisco.

Weeks later, I was still laid up in my bed. My sister and friends were taking care of me. I was on the road to recovery. And I had a lot of time to think. But my mind shifted away from all the negativity that had been filling it before. Something terrible had happened to me, but my world didn’t end. I got back to work on my play and read through what I had written. I shit you not, in some of the last few pages, a character I modeled mostly after me went on a tirade to his friend about life. “I just feel like my life doesn’t matter. Like something terrible is going to happen to me. I bet I get hit by a car tomorrow.” I was stunned. I had written that shit. I couldn’t believe it. Some part of me couldn’t help but to think that I had called this experience in and was also just very blessed and lucky. That experience of reading my words while lying in bed with a wounded leg shifted me. Over time, the anxiety didn’t go away entirely, but it changed and it became manageable. Thankfully, I realized that my mind had a lot to do with the world I created for myself. And I needed to be responsible for it.

Our personalities are the reflections of our mentalities

I’m not saying that we are magicians. I am not saying that we are entirely responsible for our pain and suffering. There are forces at play that call us to our destiny and sometimes it’s a rough one. However, I do believe we must choose how we approach it all and manage it. I believe that how we treat ourselves on the inside does affect our outside, whether it’s the situations we call in, the people we pull close to ourselves, or simply the person we reflect out into the world. Our personalities are the reflections of our mentalities. And we can shape and shift these elements, as we get closer to our true selves.

That is the New Moon in Aries. May it be good to you. And you, be good to you too.

That Full Moon in Libra Life, 2016

The Libra Full Moon, a time when we are called to release anything from our lives that is pushing us off balance

So, I’ve been gone a while from the blog. Checked out, if you will. Not because I fell out of love with you, dear readers. And not because I lost touch with astrology. Well, entirely at least. I still had some personal clients here and there. But mostly I was immersed in other areas of my life to a degree that I just wasn’t able to balance it all. Or at least that is what I told myself. I just didn’t have the time to write the blog. Now is that entirely true? No. I could’ve made the time. But anyhow, this isn’t my time to explain or apologize. Now is the time to dive back in. And funnily enough, we find ourselves at the Libra Full Moon, a time when we are called to release anything from our lives that is pushing us off balance. That way we have no reason to say we can’t find the time to balance it all. From this point forward, we have the opportunity to see that thinking like this is just a mentality of procrastination bred from our fears to commit.

Moving forward, we all must make balance a priority in our lives. You already know the thing, the habit, the relationship that is holding you back from attaining it. But before you go fully exorcising those demons, get clear on what balance means for you. It’s a broad term and means something different for each of us. Thankfully, Mercury, the planet that rules the mind and all things communication, is a part of this Full Moon. It’s there in the action to say, “Hey, you know what shit you need to fix. Don’t try to meditate to the answer. Don’t hope someone else is gonna come along and tell you what you need to fix. You KNOW the answer so get to fixing it!” Well, that’s how my mind talks to me at least. Anyway, all this is to say you have the answer available to you, right now. It’s the thing you’ve felt nagging you. Whether it’s something you’ve been doing too much of, or something you haven’t been doing enough. It’s that person you’ve been giving all of yourself to in lieu of giving anything to yourself. Or substitute that for a job. Or your family. What else is getting more time than YOU in your life? The balance must shift.

Make the changes you need to restore order to the kingdom of your life

This isn’t just a simple shift either. Let me guess that you may be feeling a little do or die these days. You may be feeling like what you do now will have ramifications that echo out into your future in a big way. Well, it’s because they do. So don’t sleep on this cosmic chance to shift and change the balance and flow of your life. Get woke! Utilize this Libra Full Moon energy to jump off the lazy train and make the changes you need to restore order to the kingdom of your life! NOW IS THE TIME!

That Full Moon When You Got Real Clear

confused-cat-meme-2

We must be willing to dig into the truth of why we’re feeling so confused

Things just aren’t that clear right now. That’s what happens when Saturn, the planet of restriction and responsibility comes in close contact with Mercury, the ruler of the mind. Personally, I’ve been toiling over some decisions and driving myself to slightly epic points of insanity. Given that this is all occurring in Sagittarius means that it’s all trying to drive me toward a truth of some kind, but with Gemini in the mix, it’s hard to get quiet enough to clear the air. Whenever I sit with a client, I tend to always tell him or her that meditation is key to one’s success. And I always do my best to walk that talk and meditate daily. But even my recent meditations have been overrun with lists of things to do and questions about what’s right or wrong.

Today marks a Gemini full moon, which means it’s possible to connect to our minds in a way that helps us to release some answers to the questions on our thoughts. But we must be willing to dig into the truth of why we’re feeling so confused. Are we letting some fear or insecurity creep into the decision making process, clouding our best judgment and intuition? Or perhaps we’ve assigned some person in our life too much power over how we think or feel, causing our heart’s compass a lack of clarity. Whatever the case, we need to be willing to come to blows with our truest selves and face reality. We know what’s messing up. There just needs to be a willingness to accept what is a possibly a mistake we’ve made.

This specific full moon time can feel challenging, but it can also be liberating

So how to know the truth? Well first off, trust your gut. You know your fears by now. You know what they sound like and you know what they respond to. If you’re not sure, then let me help. Your fears are usually excited by some need to be accepted by others. They can be enticed by the idea of being “left out” or considered a failure. They thrive on intimacy, and vulnerability. They don’t want you to succeed. Instead, they want you to stay put because it’s safe and free of change. So if you can’t get clear enough to make a strong decision, then take the time to dissect what is going on in your life and ask yourself if you’re being shrouded by some fear-based idea. Get calm and ask yourself what truly feels right and what feels wrong. You will know what makes sense for you. And let everyone else dictate their own lives, not yours.

It’s important to feel your thoughts and think about your feelings in a responsible way. Yes, these are two different things. Feel what you’re saying so that you know that you’re not saying something that can hurt another. If you’re thoughts are causing you pain and you can’t release them in a healthy way, they will only transform into hurtful words toward another. And this is never good, especially during the holidays when family is involved. Also, think about your feelings from an adult point of view. Are you overreacting? Are you being childish? Now is not the time to just react. Make sure your feelings about something or someone aren’t connected to some outdated pain or uncertainty. You may be bummed but it could just be about something that bears no resemblance to your actual reality. It’s just an old thinking pattern that feels ready to be released. So use this full moon time to release it in some constructive way, i.e. writing a letter you don’t need to send, some creative endeavor, or by simply beating a pillow for ten seconds. Um yeah, I do it. And it works.

You Deserve All Good Things... it's true!

This specific full moon time can feel challenging, but it can also be liberating. It can be a time to release your old, “young” ways of thinking that don’t serve you anymore. You need to take responsibility for your thoughts and your feelings. No one is making you feel the way you do. You are simply choosing to respond. And you need to get a grip on how you do so. You deserve to feel good about your choices. You deserve to be confident. You have it within you. So have gratitude for your ability to change and grow, and have a fantastic Thanksgiving.

That Libra New Moon When You Pulled It Together

Life is too precious to be wasting time on shit that doesn’t make us feel happy

As this comes to print, the Libra New Moon is spreading its energy around, calling upon us all to begin again in some aspect of our lives. The last few weeks have all been a bit of a clusterfuck, shall we say? Mercury was in a hell of a retrograde, causing all of us to reboot in various ways, whether it was in a relationship, a job sitch, or in some inner element of ourselves. I can say for myself that it really wore me down. I felt like I had a minor breakdown every other day (and maybe like two major breakdowns). In all, it was a struggle, as it forced me to reconsider some of my usual ways of being. And with that, came some understandings about things I need to change about myself, and about how I take on my world. What about you? Have you had any sorts of revelations about yourself and the way you take on life over these last few weeks? Well, the Libra New Moon is here to help both you and me integrate the lessons of these past weeks into our daily lives so that we can manifest some necessary evolution for ourselves.

Libra is all about balance. So what areas of your life are out of whack? What parts of you are you ignoring? Hopefully you have taken some stock of what is missing from your life, or at least have felt the inner stirrings that it is time to shake things up a bit. Life is too precious to be wasting time on shit that doesn’t make us feel happy. Sometimes, we end up spending most of our days in jobs or environments that completely deplete us. Well, if there is no way to get entirely out of those situations at this time, then how do you balance them better with activities that you do like? And this goes for relationships, your home life, or any path of study or education. If you are immersed too far into something that isn’t entirely feeding you mind, body, and soul, then you need to teeter back the other direction and work some more joyful elements into your life.

6a0133f538e9e4970b017c327587ab970b-500wi

This Libra New Moon has a lot of work for you to do

Analyze and make a plan. Over the last few weeks, what has caused you the most grief? Where have you been overwhelmed? What have you been craving but haven’t been giving yourself the time to enjoy? Ponder these questions and give yourself some honest answers. Then, make a plan to incorporate the things you’re missing into your life more while detaching yourself from things that are draining you. And yes, obviously the shit that is bringing you down is probably just unnecessary to your life right now, so it should go. But this doesn’t just have to be about ridding yourself of all the bad in exchange for some good. Maybe your job is great but you’re so buried in it that it’s keeping you from enjoying your partner or your family. Or perhaps you are just being plain lazy these days and enjoying lots of taquitos, which can be fulfilling, but you’re pushing aside some creative pursuit that would actually fulfill you a hell of a lot more.

You must find your balance. One key to this is meditation. I prescribe meditation in all of my chart readings with clients now. It is so necessary to taming the mind and seeing through the mental clutter. And meditation doesn’t have to be sitting cross-legged on a pillow for twenty minutes. It can be different for everyone. For some, free writing is meditative. For others, it’s gardening. But the intention is always the same – close your mental space off to wandering though and connect to the present. We cannot fully see what is missing, or what is in abundance, in our lives if we can’t tune in from the present.

be-unique-martin-iovev

You must get still with what your unique spirit wants for you

Another element on the path to balance is finding our unique truth. Sometimes, we tell ourselves that we should be focusing on our family, or our jobs, or our creative pursuits more, but then it’s actually just external pressure masquerading as our internal voice causing us to think this way. We have to make sure that we want isn’t what someone else wants for us. We can try so hard to please others in our lives that we convince ourselves that what they want is what we want too. It’s just easier that way, right? Yeah, until you’re staring in the mirror, crying yourself silly while some old sad ballad plays, wondering how you ended up here. Okay, maybe that’s just me. But seriously, you must get still with what your unique spirit wants for you. And you have to try to honor it in a way that honors your personal integrity and your authentic self. It is easy to lose sight of our authenticity, especially in a society based around fitting in, getting “likes”, etc. Move on from that mentality and ground in to what matters to you. And then move more of that into your life.

This Libra New Moon has a lot of work for you to do. I know, it seems like we just got out of a damn retrograde and here I am offering you more mountains to climb. Well, that’s life. But these should also be much more fun if you approach from a place of joy. Joy for being the kind of person who wants to figure your shit out, who wants to be the best damn you that you can be, and for wanting to try and fearlessly actualize your dreams. Also, there is one more element to Libra, and that is partnership. So you don’t have to do all of this alone. You have people in your life who care for you and want to be a part of your happiness and growth. So connect with them, get their advice or just ask them to lend an ear as you work it all out. And you will work it all out. I have so much faith in you. You should too.

Happy Libra New Moon!

That Aries Full Moon When You Really Grew Up

We have been motivated to leave behind old ways of being and to step into a more “grown-up” version of the person we want to be

I was talking to a friend last night, and we were discussing how both us and some of our friends are all feeling in a very similar place right now. It’s as if we’ve come through a larger cycle of transformation and change and we’re ready to “leave school for the real world.” In thinking about it, I realized that, collectively, we have done just that. For the last three years, Saturn has been moving through Scorpio. This three-year period has pushed us to face some of our weaknesses and our fears. It has asked us to move beyond our comfort zone and to try on new aspects of ourselves. We have been motivated to leave behind old ways of being and to step into a more “grown-up” version of the person we want to be. It has not been easy, and it may have left some of us in a place of “What the fuck do I do now?” But know that you’ve moved away from some relationships, work situations, home environments, etc, that just weren’t serving you. And as rough as it has been, it has also been rewarding. And you should feel much more in your power than the you who lived in your life three years ago.

Thankfully, the Aries Full Moon is here to help us culminate this process so that we can charge forth into the next horizon. It wants you to take your first major step into the newness of your current, more “grown-up” life. It’s time to take major advantage of the shift that your life has been creating for you. Take ownership of the positive changes you are instilling into your life. You know that leaving your job or committing to your new man was a challenge to undertake, but how strongly are you taking the reins in writing this next chapter? It’s time to seal the deal and just be the damn change already. Feel connected to your instincts and trust that inner voice to guide you properly. Whatever it is you’re trying to manifest, you have it in you to do so. You just have be the guide. No one else is gonna come along with a map and escort you to some gold. You are the map. Just be present enough to the flow of your life to follow it.

I don’t need to take months to accomplish something when I have today

I know this to be true. Three years ago, I was in a job that felt meaningless to me. I knew it had to change but I didn’t know what the change was going to look like. As soon as I took ownership of the change that needed to occur, life took over. It wasn’t always easy but it was rewarding. And now I step into this next phase with that same sense of belief and excitement. But I also know that I can’t sleep on it. I don’t need to take months to accomplish something when I have today. I was lucky enough to jump into the moving waters before so that I could flow into profound opportunities and glorious personal growth experiences. But now, I must stay present so to navigate the rocks and waves ahead. I must stay present to my journey or else it will overcome me and I will be left, washed up on shore, waiting for another wave to catch me. I must stay present because there is no alternative. And you know this.

And now some further words on each sign:

That Aquarius Full Moon When You Gave Your Old Bullshit Away

6a0133f538e9e4970b01901ed96471970b-500wi

This Aquarius full moon wants us to express ourselves from our deepest place.

First, let me apologize. Since I’ve been pretty busy as of late, I don’t have a full horoscope-like post for you this week. However, I did want to write to you all as it is the Aquarius full moon, and I didn’t want it to pass without connecting with everyone. So instead of diving into the depths for each sign, I will share some general words inspired for you all by this full moon.

Last night at a lovely dinner with friends, my boyfriend, The Aquarius, was talking to someone about this full moon. “I think it’s all about being your truest self. Moving through the fears that keep you from expressing your truest self.” And he is right. The Aquarius Full Moon wants us to release our unique, authentic selves out into the world. It doesn’t want us to get caught up in the bullshit of who we think we’re supposed to be, or the roles we play at work or at home. This full moon wants us to express ourselves from our deepest place. But in order to do that, we must know exactly how to get to that deepest place so we can access that true self.

Mining the depths of our selves is tough ass work. Even when we think we’re “going there”, closing our eyes and meditating or journaling to our hearts content, we may still be just going through the motions without actually plummeting into and facing the core of our personal, spiritual questions. We may become aware of our inner challenges without actually moving through and beyond them. Instead, we just let them move in and grow comfortable living in these challenges. And eventually, that becomes all we know, the challenge of trying to be our best self. So how do we bust through and make a real shift that can actually make all this personal work worthwhile?

Playing the ego game will only lead you back to feeling empty again

Well, if you are reading this, on some level, you are on a personal spirit quest. And you must be connected to your spirit quest at every moment. You can’t just do your spirit work and then move on to your rest of the day being caught up in the ego life game that everyone else is playing. Because at this point, you know better, and where others will find triumph in beating someone else out or feeling like number one, you will know better. And playing the ego game will only lead you back to feeling empty again.

Use this full moon time to get in touch with whatever fears and limitations have been holding you back from being the person you dream of becoming. Think on what is keeping you from letting go of lame ways of being that stifle your voice, withhold you from pursuing and/or believing heartily in your dreams, or cause you unnecessary sadness. Whatever these things are, these thoughts or old memories, they don’t own you. So don’t absorb yourself in them. But you must know them before you can release them. You must name them. Meet them. Have a juice with them. And then tell them, “You have no power over me. You have no power over me. You have no power over me.”

You have the power to know you and be you. Others may not like the most powerful you. They will be threatened. And it will be hard. It takes work. But you have it within you to take responsibility for your greatest self. You have it within you to live as your greatest self. And I totally want to meet him or her. You should want that too.

That Cancer New Moon When Pluto Was All the Rage

pluto-new-horizons-2015-07-14-02

The Cancer New Moon lands in the midst of all this Pluto business, asking us to begin again from a place of emotional stability and grounded sense of self

Did we all see that Pluto is back? Yes, after being demoted from planet to “dwarf planet” status, Pluto is in the news again thanks to the astonishing photos that have come back from NASA’s New Horizons probe. It has reinvigorated the discussion amongst astronomers and scientists around Pluto and its planetary classification. For me, Pluto never went away. In fact, as an astrologer, one of the first planetary placements I look at in a chart is Pluto. Pluto offers insight into what one’s greatest soul transformation will entail for this lifetime. That’s some heavy shit. We should all know in what area of our lives we are meant to change in the deepest way. It also gives us a sense of the role change will play for us in general. Are you good or bad at change? Will change affect you most in work, relationships, or home? How we relate to change allows us to see how we relate to the ebb and flow of life.

It’s no surprise to me that Pluto is taking center stage, since astrologically speaking, it is incredibly active right now. Pluto, which is currently transiting Capricorn, is directly opposing Mercury and Mars in Cancer. That means we are trying to take steps to actualize ideas that we’ve had brewing in our heads, but it’s a slower, more emotionally connected process. We aren’t just diving in. And that is partly because Cancer slows us down a bit. It wants us to make sure our heart is in every decision. The other part is that Pluto is challenging us to look at life’s bigger picture. Is everything we’re trying to make happen serving our soul’s purpose or are we just trying to appease some ego bullshit? Uranus is also activated in all of this, urging us to approach everything from our own unique perspective. We can’t just go along with whatever everyone else thinks is best, or even approach things from what has been our typical status quo style. Instead, we must make sure to assert our own soulful leanings in all of our actions and be certain that we are steering our own life’s ship.

Define your personal integrity and make sure that everything you do moving forward supports that definition

The Cancer New Moon lands in the midst of all this Pluto business, asking us to begin again from a place of emotional stability and grounded sense of self. Take a deep breath and ask yourself what really matters to you. Define your personal integrity and make sure that everything you do moving forward supports that definition. How have you been asleep in your life? What areas have you been ignoring because you just don’t want to put in the work to change them? Well, with Pluto here, you either need to use this new moon energy to create new habits and start a new cycle sans whatever you know is supposed to be dumped by the wayside right now, or be forced to make the change later. And the forced way is usually never the fun way. So what do you need to be doing to take better care of yourself, and to be making sure that everything you’re trying to make happen right now truly matters to you?

Let’s take a brief look at each of the signs for greater clarity:

That Sagittarius Full Moon When Caitlyn Jenner Showed Us the Way

Living is giving the world your most authentic you, all the time, in the moment

As you all know by now, Caitlyn Jenner has been introduced to the world, and she is pretty damn gorgeous. Many are shouting praise for her bravery, while others scoff at her decision. Some may even go so far as to say cruel, nasty things about her and her transition. Yes, I am looking at you, Fox News. However, in the end, none of it really matters to her process. Yes, it’s amazing for her to feel the support. She deserves it. And really, Caitlyn is forging major change in the mainstream world with her courageous and very public transformation. Personally, I’m in awe of her. Yet, what matters most is that she is making time in her precious life to live in the entirety of her truth. Whether she does so in front of billions or was doing so in a small town, it doesn’t fully matter to her life journey. What matters is that she is finally allowing herself to exist in her complete authenticity. And that is what we should all aspire to do.

We all must live in our unique truth. But to do so, we must first explore, then understand, and ultimately accept the nature of our unique truth. Some of us are afraid to probe too deeply. We accept the realities of our lives as they are presented to us and ignore the voices inside, urging us to live differently, more freely. We become afraid of what our families, our friends, our peers, our churches, our businesses will think of us. We cower from the honesty in our hearts to appease the eyes of those around us. But that is not living. Living is giving the world your most authentic you, all the time, in the moment.

The confusions in your life are illusions

The Sagittarius Full Moon wants to inspire you to release your most authentic self onto the world. Now, you may be saying, “I am me. This is it.” But then in another breath, you go on about how you’re confused about your career, or your relationship, or how to best manage your health. And that is because you are fighting a silent war with your truth. The Sagittarius Full Moon wants to remind you that the confusions in your life are illusions. You just need to wave them away with some honest self-reflection. And a good old-fashioned chat with a trusted somebody never hurt either.

So, where are you in the process? Perhaps you need to explore a bit more into what exactly is your authentic truth. Get quiet with yourself. Ask some questions. “Do I love the direction of my life?” Do I love me in all that I do?” Maybe you have explored further and have that deeper knowledge. Now, how do you grow to understand it better so you can put it into action? How do you gain the complete acceptance so that you can just live it openly? Don’t beat yourself up for not having all the answers now. Mercury is in retrograde so now is a good time to keep exploring. But be in the question until you are fully able to live the answer. And, if like Caitlyn, you’re already there, then keep on being the ultimate example. We all need a light to follow.

Let’s look a little more deeply at each sign and how this full moon could affect you:
