The Cancer Full Moon Of 2018

Why shouldn’t I see all of life as an adventure, and approach each day as if I’m waking up somewhere rich with wonder and excitement?

My husband, The Aquarius, and I recently returned from our much-delayed honeymoon to South America. It was a magical, whirlwind trip that left my heart fulfilled, my spirit overwhelmed with lessons, and my body exhausted, but in that good kind of way. It’s never easy to come back from a trip, especially one that is so mind-opening and expansive, and also so different from the life that’s usually lived.

Leading up to the trip’s end, I found myself saying, “I don’t want to go back to my real life.” And my husband would usually respond with, “But this is your real life, honey”, leaving me to grumble. I of course knew what he meant but was being stubborn to the lesson. That there is no separation from the life lived in the routine day-to-day versus the life lived in a luxurious hotel nestled into the Sacred Valley of Peru. They may feel like complete polar opposites, but the experience is all mine. So by me separating it, I’m drawing a divide between the two that can be a detriment to my being. Why shouldn’t I see all of life as an adventure, and approach each day as if I’m waking up somewhere rich with wonder and excitement? I should always feel at home in my life, at all times, no matter the circumstances.

2018 is kicking off with a grand Full Moon in Cancer, all about our emotional connection to what makes us feel at home. In astrology, the moon is a reflection of how we love ourselves, and Cancer is the sign that she’s most comfortable in, so it’s where she’s most able to access her powers of sensitivity and self-care. On a full moon, we are meant to release whatever is left that is outdated and left behind from our most recent set of life lessons. With this one hitting at the turn of a new year, it only makes sense that we look at it as a release of what needs to go from 2017.

I can’t speak for you, but I’ve got a lot of emotional, spiritual, and mental baggage that could be unloaded before walking across 2018’s threshold. I don’t want to take any of the fear or the preconceived ideas with me. I’m happy to let go of the apathy and the sadness for choices being made for the world I live in without my consent. And I’m thrilled to say, “Bye bitch” to the need for approval or validation for any of the gifts, skills, and abilities that are simply mine to give unconditionally.

Cancer wants us to feel at home, wherever we are. So what old shit can you release that will allow you to feel more like you belong, without question or doubt or a sense that what you’re experiencing isn’t your “real life”? Because it’s true. This is all your real life. Every single moment of it. The good and the bad of your day to day job or home life. The secrets that you keep from your loved ones. The talents that shine from your heart. The worries that keep you up at night. The joyful celebrations and moments of laughter. It’s all a reflection of you.

But what’s also true is that you don’t have to let any of it define who you are.

Because with each day comes a birth. An opportunity to call forth a brand new version of you. One that’s improved on from the you that hit the pillow the night before. And your mind shouldn’t be allowed to cloud your spirit with troubled thoughts of “I should do better” or “why am I so behind” or “when’s it my turn” or “I don’t want to go back to my real life.” All of that fog is just gonna hold you back and keep you from embracing the “You” of right now. And you must embrace You, right now. Both the challenges and the brilliance. That’s the only way to see the full picture and take stock of what doesn’t fit anymore. Then you’ll know exactly what to pack up and get rid of so that you can dream a better day for yourself. You can make some space inside the home of your heart for what truly matters.

Self-love. Self-care. Self-worth.

With those, you can build a greater, stronger You for tomorrow.

Cancer rules water. And in Peru’s Sacred Valley, we got to sleep along the Urubamba River. It’s rippled sound soothed me, calling me home to the comfort of my heart. On my last day there, I sat and took a video of it, just so I could keep the sound and go back to it when needed. Now back in L.A., I pull it up when I need some peace. It helps me to be there and here now at the same time. And that is the lesson. I can be in the comfort of my heart, my home, wherever I am. Whether in traffic on Beverly Blvd or under a Peruvian sky. It all must be, or else I cannot be whole. And we can be whole. We don’t have to give into any idea that we are “broken.” All of our pieces are with us, ready to continue on, flowing into 2018, like a calm river traveling underneath the warm sun.

That Cancer Full Moon When You Were in All Your Glory

head-v-heart2

It’s time to feel. All of it.

The Cancer full moon is always my favorite. Full disclosure, my own moon is in Cancer so it always feels like I’m dialing in on some profound emotional experience or revelation on these days. Thank God I scheduled therapy for today. But I also love it because Cancer rules the moon, so it also marks her yearly moment to allow us all a collective emotional exhale. We may all be feeling a little emotionally constipated right now, stopped up from all the feelings we’ve had to confront and absorb over these last six months. Hell, these last two months have been enough of a roller coaster to last me a lifetime. But consider that whatever emotional process we initiated in July is now coming to a head and it wants to explode or release. Now it’s not entirely in the, “I need to scream at someone and have a breakdown” kind of way though it could be. I would just say that if we’ve been looking within and trying to cultivate some stronger relationship with ourselves around an area of our lives, now is the perfect time to move it all out of the head and into our hearts. It’s time to feel. All of it.

We should use this moment as an opportunity to love ourselves wholly. We must drop the bullshit mental games we play with ourselves and fall madly in love with the life we want to build. It’s not okay anymore to make excuses nor succumb to our own internal negative speak. Now this is all easier said than done. I know that I can meditate all day long and then come out of it to an immediate self-criticism. And that quick switch from “love and light” to “girl, your eyes look tired” is rough because then it makes the meditation feel like a failure. But it’s not. It’s just human. However, the goal is to minimize the feeling we take from the critical voice. Because THAT IS ALL IT IS. It’s not a real voice. It’s a voice conjured by past insecurities that we tell ourselves is the voice of reality. But the voice of reality is actually all around you. The voice of reality is simply the present moment.

cancer01412

The time has come for you to believe in the future self that you deep down know exists in the space laid out for you

The goal is to navigate the pitfalls of the inner voices so that we come out of our days feeling gratitude and self-love. We cannot attach to the inner saboteur anymore. (By the way, if you don’t have this voice then you’ve succeeded at life and can just stop reading now.) When we do attach to that voice, we put a roadblock up in front of our abundance. We cannot see the opportunities coming our way. We cannot trust the voice of inspiration because we think it is the same voice of self-doubt. But these two do not come from the same place. Inspiration is fleeting while self-doubt will stick around. Inspiration comes in like a whisper from a dream while self-doubt nags like a roommate we can’t get rid of. Well, right now, inspiration, luck, abundance, and insight are available to us. We just have to feel with our whole mind, body, and soul that we deserve it to access it.

You deserve goodness. Can you truly believe that for yourself? I need you to feel that with your whole heart. Look in the mirror and tell that scared, loving being that is you, “I deserve goodness.” Do that for me. Do that for yourself. The time has come for a profound shift in your being, both emotional and spiritual. The time has come for you to believe in the future self that you deep down know exists in the space laid out for you. The time has come to get it together. Have faith that the goals and aspirations that you FEEL are true and can manifest if you can LOVE yourself like you never have before. Drop the shitty habits. Drop the shitty friends. Drop the shitty things you tell yourself over and over without even realizing you’re doing it. You have love in the world. And that full moon in Cancer is here, to illuminate it for you in all its glory. Be you in all your glory.

That Cancer New Moon When Pluto Was All the Rage

pluto-new-horizons-2015-07-14-02

The Cancer New Moon lands in the midst of all this Pluto business, asking us to begin again from a place of emotional stability and grounded sense of self

Did we all see that Pluto is back? Yes, after being demoted from planet to “dwarf planet” status, Pluto is in the news again thanks to the astonishing photos that have come back from NASA’s New Horizons probe. It has reinvigorated the discussion amongst astronomers and scientists around Pluto and its planetary classification. For me, Pluto never went away. In fact, as an astrologer, one of the first planetary placements I look at in a chart is Pluto. Pluto offers insight into what one’s greatest soul transformation will entail for this lifetime. That’s some heavy shit. We should all know in what area of our lives we are meant to change in the deepest way. It also gives us a sense of the role change will play for us in general. Are you good or bad at change? Will change affect you most in work, relationships, or home? How we relate to change allows us to see how we relate to the ebb and flow of life.

It’s no surprise to me that Pluto is taking center stage, since astrologically speaking, it is incredibly active right now. Pluto, which is currently transiting Capricorn, is directly opposing Mercury and Mars in Cancer. That means we are trying to take steps to actualize ideas that we’ve had brewing in our heads, but it’s a slower, more emotionally connected process. We aren’t just diving in. And that is partly because Cancer slows us down a bit. It wants us to make sure our heart is in every decision. The other part is that Pluto is challenging us to look at life’s bigger picture. Is everything we’re trying to make happen serving our soul’s purpose or are we just trying to appease some ego bullshit? Uranus is also activated in all of this, urging us to approach everything from our own unique perspective. We can’t just go along with whatever everyone else thinks is best, or even approach things from what has been our typical status quo style. Instead, we must make sure to assert our own soulful leanings in all of our actions and be certain that we are steering our own life’s ship.

Define your personal integrity and make sure that everything you do moving forward supports that definition

The Cancer New Moon lands in the midst of all this Pluto business, asking us to begin again from a place of emotional stability and grounded sense of self. Take a deep breath and ask yourself what really matters to you. Define your personal integrity and make sure that everything you do moving forward supports that definition. How have you been asleep in your life? What areas have you been ignoring because you just don’t want to put in the work to change them? Well, with Pluto here, you either need to use this new moon energy to create new habits and start a new cycle sans whatever you know is supposed to be dumped by the wayside right now, or be forced to make the change later. And the forced way is usually never the fun way. So what do you need to be doing to take better care of yourself, and to be making sure that everything you’re trying to make happen right now truly matters to you?

Let’s take a brief look at each of the signs for greater clarity:

That Scorpio Full Moon When You Learned to Really Live

Live from a place of complete honesty and integrity

So, these last few weeks have been a trip, in the best way. It started with a birthday that made me go, “Whoa middle-age-ish.” But that also hit me in the best way. I felt a fire lit beneath me and gained a sense of greater excitement for the life I’m living. I reconnected to old friends who I desperately need in my life. I followed paths by the compass of my true self, and not by the flashlight of fear. I tried, with my whole heart, to be my best self in ways that I haven’t in some time. I became more present to me. I credit a good amount of it to an amazing reader, Sabrina (http://www.sabrinapureofheart.com/sabrina), who helped to connect me to distant pieces of myself, looking for retrieval. Please go to her if you’re in need of the same. But I also credit myself, for learning to be open to the unknown and not being so scared anymore.

Why do I share all of this with you? Well because it’s the Full Moon in Scorpio. And this full moon is about putting your love to the test. And my love is in helping you, my dear readers, to get completely in touch with your highest self. To live from a place of complete honesty and integrity. To just be so damn proud of you when you look in the mirror because you’re finally not doing that same shit anymore that always leaves you feeling failure-ish and sad. I share my deepest shit so that you can feel more comfortable with yours.

So find a way to take all the changes and ideas and deepest, silent thoughts you’ve been stewing over and live them out in your life. Show people a newer version of you, sprung from your own ideas of who you want to be, and should be. Don’t fuck around anymore.

You have one life. So live it.

I’m gonna give you some words from my House Mother, Madonna. Because she and Oprah co-govern the land of living your shit out loud. And her new album, Rebel Heart, goes IN.

“If you try and fail, get up again
Destiny will choose you in the end
If you don’t make the choice
And you don’t use your voice
Someone else will speak for you instead
What you want is just within your reach
But you gotta practice what you preach
You pay with sweat and tears
And overcome your fears
Never let the fire inside you leave.”

Now here is a brief, closer look at all the signs:

The First Full Moon of 2015

new_years-resized-600

The path toward our goals will continue to illuminate under the guide of that full moon light

Every start to a new year seems to begin the same way. There’s usually a diet or new exercise routine involved. Then there’s the pledge to approach work in a more confident, productive way. Ultimately, it’s always about letting go of old, lame habits and ushering in new, more life-affirming ones that will make you and me the greatest version of ourselves that we can be. But if you’re like me, you may usually have trouble holding up to the commitments you’ve put on yourself, thus placing a veil of failure on your new year. Or you just decide to forgo the whole thing entirely and swear off any sort of “resolution”, saying they’re pointless. Which is really just code for “I give up.” Well given the astrological blueprint laid out for this first full moon of 2015, you can actually avoid both of these pitfalls and truly see a powerful personal transformation this year. And I so want that for you.

With this full moon in Cancer, it’s at its most powerful. The moon is the governor of your internal life. She controls the tides of the oceans in the same way she controls the tides of your heart. Her power allows strong feelings to wash in and cover the shore of your life. You experience them as they bubble and froth at the surface. But then, they wash away and offer a moment of stillness and peace. With the moon at its fullest, this process is amplified. The waves of your emotions are greater. And their strength is greater, which offers the chance to wash more away. So anything that has been stuck on your shore, just baking in the light of day, can now be taken out to sea and pulled away from your life for good. Wouldn’t that be nice?

full moonOverWater

With this full moon, you have a chance to let go of the old tired mentalities that have left you clinging to the feelings of the past

So what inner bullshit do you need to get clear of so that you can experience a more serene, focused inner life this year? As we know, change begins within. And just wanting a new beginning is a new beginning. It all begins in the spirit and the mind. With this full moon, you have a chance to let go of the old tired mentalities that have left you clinging to the feelings of the past. They are what stop you from evolving. Because even when you get that new job or relationship, you still find yourself responding in the same, unhealthy ways when you get to feeling some kind of way. And then you’re hitting that wall of failure that keeps you from wanting to commit to new beginnings in the first place. So what if we just eliminate the middle men of doubt and insecurity?

It’s time to truly allow ourselves the chance to aspire to the heights of our dreams and believe with our whole heart that we can have them. This won’t come without conflict. The path won’t be void of roadblocks. But if we’re fully honoring our own uniqueness and giving the heart exactly what it wants, then we will see these challenges as opportunities for personal growth. And the path toward our goals will continue to illuminate under the guide of that full moon light. Just believe in yourself, more than you ever have. I know that it can be scary to fully commit to you and what you want in your life. But in the words of someone great, “Fuck fear.” You’re greater than fear. And you’re greater than you believe you are in this very moment. So step into the next moment knowing that and you’re off.

Here’s a brief look at how to approach for each sign:

That Cancer New Moon When You Went In

photo(23)

The Cancer New Moon is all about connecting to and nurturing your innermost self

I was recently talking to some folks about Mercury Retrograde and how this current one has been doing a number on me. In short, I’ve been a hot mess. Most agreed, but one said that he hadn’t felt any sort of communication breakdown with anyone.

My response to him: “How about a communication breakdown with yourself?

His response: “Well damn”, followed by a nod.

See, sometimes we focus too much on the outward communication in our lives that we forget about communicating with ourselves. And that is the most important kind of communication. That is why meditation and self-reflection are so damn important. If we aren’t taking the time to ask ourselves the right questions about our lives and what we want, then we end up in a constant state of “I don’t know”. Because we don’t even know what it is we want to know. We’re either too afraid to face the truth of what we want, or we don’t even want to bother pining for something we already believe is out of our reach.

Well, that’s just bullshit.

a.aaa-They-told-me-that-i-could-be

With the right nurturing and focus, we can attain anything we want to in this lifetime. It may not show up on your doorstep tomorrow with a bow wrapped around it. But hell, it just may. Or at least, it will show up when it needs to and when you’ve prepared yourself enough to receive it. Trust that if you believe, it will show up.

Given the Springtime and all of the recent astrological happenings, I believe that all of you have been planting seeds and making way for some big shifts, changes, projects, and occurrences in your lives. And it hasn’t all been easy. We’ve all been meeting challenges to our ideas, plans, and desires, but the good in this process is that we should be able to enter into these next few months with more clarity. Again, that is unless you’re not taking the time to really analyze what it is you’re doing, why, and what you ultimately want out of it. If that hasn’t been the case, well don’t worry, you still have time to regroup and get in touch with your deepest intentions and needs. But you have to be willing to go in and do the deeper work.

newmoon-in-cancer

Show yourself that you matter and are something magical in this world

The Cancer New Moon is all about connecting to and nurturing your innermost self. In astrology, the Moon rules our emotional, inner being, so we can use this New Moon time to forge a new relationship with ourselves. And because we have this retrograde energy in effect (it starts to dissipate early next week, thank god), we should really reflect on how we’ve related to ourselves and reexamine the relationship we have with our thoughts. Do we wholeheartedly support our own dreams? Do we tell ourselves the motivational things we need to hear, or do we just spend time cutting ourselves down? And how are we showing ourselves with what we do in our lives that we want to nurture our best selves?

Now is the time to recommit to loving yourself in a massive way.

Now is the time to reconnect to the truth of you in a massive way.

Now is the time to give yourself the love you deserve in a massive way.

Now is the time to be you, to nurture you, and to show yourself that you matter and are something magical in this world.

Let’s take a closer look at each sign and how this Cancer New Moon could be affecting you. Again, if you know your rising sign, read that too. And if you don’t know it, hit me up with your birth info and I can look it up for you.

Change or Get Off The Cross

When you make that intense promise to live greater, your life steps up to meet you

In my last post about the full moon, I wrote that the planets were “moving in ways to make challenging angles to each other. Some are getting along. Some are pushing each other. For us, that means we are being pushed and prodded toward our higher calling.” That’s right, my loves. At this time, we are being strongly urged to grow toward our greater self. And that full moon eclipse was the gateway to it. I mean, did you notice how everyone seemed to be talking about it, even if not in an astrological or spiritual way? They were posting about it on Facebook or taking pictures for their Instagram feed. And it makes sense, because it looked really cool. But also, that full “blood” moon was a massive moment for us all on a deeper level. So subconsciously, we all felt a gravitational pull to her. The full moon eclipse was an opening, leading us down the passageway toward our life’s next great chapter. So now how do we fully step into it?

Recently, I attended this ridiculously amazing restorative yoga class. I’ve been before and it’s always a brilliant experience, but this time it really took me on a deep, meditative journey. Its culmination was a visualization exercise that pushed us to connect with each of the four elements. All the students were asked to picture ourselves as each element in whatever way came to us. At first, I was a huge tranquil sea. Then, I became a cozy fire pit on a cool summer night. I was then the scent of jasmine and lavender coasting on the roof of a spring breeze. And finally I morphed into the dirt that lay at the feet of a family of giant redwoods. I essentially became the earth, in all of its varied, elemental glory. This exercise was so soothing and left me feeling incredibly balanced. For I realized that if I was all four of these elements, I was also the space in the center of them. And it is only from that center space where any of us has the ability to tap into all of the elements of oneself in a clear, balanced way.

grand-cross-04-15am-gmt-23-april-2014-london

The time for change is now

Between now and the end of April, four of the major planets are creating an elemental cross in the sky, and we are all finding ourselves in the midst of trying to balance between them. In astrology, it’s referred to as a Grand Cross, though some astrologers are punctuating it with feelings of Armageddon or Y2K. Now don’t get me wrong, it is intense. I mean, aren’t you feeling pretty damn intense these days? But you shouldn’t approach this time with fear. Rather, you should engage it with a sense of openness and a curiosity for how to become a better you. We all just need to learn how to still ourselves so that we can attain the lessons being presented to us. The time for change is now.

So what planets are at play here and how does it really affect you?

The Idea of You and a New Moon in Libra

1111_idea_380x2782

What’s the idea you have for yourself?

A few weeks ago, I got back from Minnesota where I was working as a producer on a feature film.  This is the first time that I have worked in this capacity on a movie, and the actual production process was rewarding, exhausting, and one of the most challenging experiences of my life.  And the hours were simply not cute.  Actually, neither was I after a couple days of it.  But my greatest struggle wasn’t sleep deprivation or maintaining my girlish figure amidst the tables of craft service.  Those were easy to manage in comparison to dealing with the internal question mark that arose over myself as the shoot wore on.

I went into this filming process thinking I had a pretty clear idea of myself.  I’m a 36-year-old man.  I got issues, but I know who I am.  However, through this journey, I was forced to question the ideas of me I had in place time and again.  For instance, I thought I was entirely compassionate when I’m actually a bit of a shady bitch.  My thought that I was cautious in my decision making actually read to others as uncertain and lacking in confidence.  And I saw that questioning my instincts was a constant epidemic of my mind, and it never lead to anything but disappointment.  Mostly, I realized that one shouldn’t just sit idly by, waiting on a ship to come in.  With that, all you do is grow old on some dock, watching as others go on about their lives.

tumblr_m5dsp2C5j21r8gwm8o1_500

When heavy trouble would arise on set, my go-to would be to just sit and observe.  Someone smarter would come along and handle.  But that mentality does nothing for one’s personal growth.  And sometimes, I am that someone smarter.  So I had to push myself to get involved.  No one was going to ask my opinion.  I had to force others to hear my voice.  Thus, I forced myself to hear my own voice and acknowledge it.  And that was something, with the exception of this blog, I had subtly squashed and put into submission as of late.

If we can’t see ourselves fresh every day, then we’re not giving ourselves the opportunity to truly evolve.

All this has allowed for a new me to emerge.  I’m bolder.  I’m more confident.  And I’m less afraid to speak up about what I feel with the fear of rejection hanging over me.  But this shift isn’t just about my actions.  It’s about mentality.  It’s about changing the idea I have of me.  This is a perfect kind of realization for the astrological climate around this new moon in Libra.

What’s the idea you have for yourself?  For one, there’s a sense of how we think we come across to others, which is usually a sharp difference from the actual truth.  We can also identify ourselves too much around a job, a relationship, or even our gender or sexual identity.  And sometimes, we labor to craft the perfect idea of what we think our lives should be.  We know the career we want or would excel at if we weren’t stuck in the one we were currently in, and we think it’s just a matter of time before the boss notices or the Universe opens the door to the right opportunity.  But really, that’s all bullshit.  If we can’t see ourselves fresh every day, then we’re not giving ourselves the opportunity to truly evolve.  We then can’t relate to others from an honest place.  And we rob ourselves of growth and attaining a true balance within which is really all Libra wants us to do.

libra-two-moons

The process of finding your balance can be wobbly at times, so it requires movement.

Libra craves and creates balance, especially in relationships with others.  But as people, we can only project a peaceful equilibrium and attract those who have one if we truly feel it inside.  Right now, the planets want us to meet a new idea for ourselves.  We need to be honest about what we’re looking for in our lives and stop letting our circumstances dictate what we feel, think, and do.  Each of us is a unique being with a set of lessons to take on.  So take a look at your life.  Are you connecting and activating your specific life plan, or are you just responding to the world and events around you?  If you’re not being active in the process, then you’re not achieving balance.  The process of finding your balance can be wobbly at times, so it requires movement.  Like in yoga, we must fall down when trying to hold a pose to fully know the strength and power of its opposition: complete stillness.

Let’s look more specifically at the signs and how this can be playing out for you:

Wine, A Bath, and The New Moon in Cancer

992875_10151444832481371_1677638389_n

Cancer wants us to nurture ourselves so that we can move through our current life situations with a renewed sense of emotional calm and security

In preparing myself to write on this new moon in Cancer, I decided to kick back and relax with a glass of wine and a bath.  My boyfriend, the Aquarius, is traveling in Europe with family, and he was concerned that while home alone, I wasn’t taking care of myself.  So, I lit a candle, threw some bath salts in, paused for a moment to make sure I wasn’t becoming Liberace, and then started a Sia Genius mix on my ITunes.  After sinking in to the lavender scented water and polishing off half a glass of viognier, I started to think on Cancer and what the current energy around it meant for us all.  Cancer is home, family, personal roots, and our emotional foundation.  It’s a warm blanket, tea, and an oatmeal cookie.  Just then, Tori Amos’s A Sorta Fairytale began to waft over the speakers, and I started to sing.  But I only got a verse in before I found myself laughing.  Talk about a full-on Cancer moment.  Here I was, a Cancer moon myself, thinking about the sign while in the same moment basically bathing in the womb of its essence.  I had created a nest of comfort using so many of the things that calm me and bring me home, that I realized I didn’t have to go too far into the mind to feel what it is we all may need during this new moon time.

We must be willing to go deep into our emotional being and feel our way through the labyrinth of life.

Cancer wants us to nurture ourselves so that we can move through our current life situations with a renewed sense of emotional calm and security.  And this is never as easy as it reads on paper, especially when Mercury is in retrograde and going through the same sign.  Our minds are all a bit uncertain and afraid to commit to ideas and actions.  We think we know what we should do next, but we also aren’t sure we feel that it’s the right move to make.  It’s as if we need God to physically manifest in some form and point to the path we should take so we know exactly what to do.  And even then, we may still feel some questioning come in.  That’s the trick when Mercury is a little backwards and gets involved.  It covers up our heart with the sharp swords of mental thought.  Our heart may feel one way, but our internal words question it with doubt.  And if allowed, they can do so until we crumble ourselves in ruin.  We must be willing to go deep into our emotional being and feel our way through the labyrinth of life.  That is the only way to get out and into the truth of our happiness, where real serenity lives.  That is the only way to use this Cancer energy for good so that you can start anew, with confidence.

Choose to move forward and learn from everything you do, the successes and the mistakes

The sign of Cancer is also connected to the past, which at a new moon time can be challenging and rewarding.  This last week, I was talking a client through her chart, and I saw that she was having trouble letting go of choices she had made long ago.  “You cannot judge yourself for the mistakes of your past.”  It resonated.  “You have to forgive yourself”, I told her, “and move forward.”  With Mercury in Cancer, we’re gonna be thinking about the past a bit.  But it is in retrograde right now, so we can take a cue from the planet and turn it the other way.  We must use this energy to look towards the future, and we should use everything that comes up about the past as a reminder for the long-term goals we’ve laid out for ourselves.  We cannot get caught up in “This happened and then this happened” because “this” is happening, with every passing second.  So you can choose to move forward and learn from everything you do, the successes and the mistakes.  For at the end of the road, it is all forward movement.  And right now, there is a lot of activity around abundance and growth that is pushing us towards realizing our bigger dreams.  Manifestation is in the air, so we must take advantage of it.  That is Jupiter, also in Cancer, and they are all pushing that retrograde energy.  So shift it around and make it work for you, not against you.

Let’s take a closer look at each sign and see how this all could be affecting you more directly:

Mercury on Shuffle

Yes, we are smack dab in the middle of a Mercury Retrograde

I had often referred to my Ipod as “my child”.  It was this tiny, fragile creature that I had been entrusted to take care of, and I loved it with all of my heart.  It practically went everywhere that I went.  I had even named it.  Dove.  So you can imagine my heartache when last week, Dove wouldn’t sync up with my computer and then just wiped clean of all its contents.  Multiple attempts to resuscitate Dove failed.  And as I rushed Dove to the Genius Bar at my nearby Apple Store, I already felt that its spirit had left me.  Dove had become a victim of Mercury’s retrograde, squeezing electronic devices of their proper, happy lives.  And thus, frustrating their owners when their beloved possessions crapped out.  Thankfully, I had purchased an extended warranty, so I was handed a brand new Ipod that I immediately began to love as strongly as the old one.  But still, I had to bow to the Mercury influence.  Perhaps why I have chosen to name this new Ipod just that – Mercury – with the hopes that the two will be friends moving forward.

Yes, we are smack dab in the middle of a Mercury Retrograde.  So that means we have to be patient when communication breaks down.  We have to forgive people when they don’t hear us correctly and do the exact opposite of what we wanted them to do.  We cannot go to the rage place when travel gets delayed or our reservations are incorrect.  And we must chill when our computers, TV’s, or other electronic BFF’s, who usually make our lives easier, decide to turn the tables and make life hell.  It’s all just a response to the planetary energy at play.  And we want to get emotional about it.  We want to take it all to heart and place blame on our choices or ourselves for things not working out.  I mean, I wanted to throw that damn Ipod against a wall or out the window.  But we all must take a step back and a long deep breath before we can really take in what’s going on and discover the best proper solution for it.

Now is the time to go back over some of the pieces of the past and communicate with them

Mercury is the messenger.  So when he stalls in retrograde, the messages are no longer clear.  So how do we make the most of this?  Well, we still have a ton of information that we took in before the retrograde began on June 26th.  We have projects that we started and never finished.  Messes we created but didn’t fully get around to cleaning.  Conversations we told ourselves we wanted to have but didn’t have the courage to initiate.  Well, now is the time to go back over some of the pieces of the past and communicate with them.
