So, I’ve been gone a while from the blog. Checked out, if you will. Not because I fell out of love with you, dear readers. And not because I lost touch with astrology. Well, entirely at least. I still had some personal clients here and there. But mostly I was immersed in other areas of my life to a degree that I just wasn’t able to balance it all. Or at least that is what I told myself. I just didn’t have the time to write the blog. Now is that entirely true? No. I could’ve made the time. But anyhow, this isn’t my time to explain or apologize. Now is the time to dive back in. And funnily enough, we find ourselves at the Libra Full Moon, a time when we are called to release anything from our lives that is pushing us off balance. That way we have no reason to say we can’t find the time to balance it all. From this point forward, we have the opportunity to see that thinking like this is just a mentality of procrastination bred from our fears to commit.

Moving forward, we all must make balance a priority in our lives. You already know the thing, the habit, the relationship that is holding you back from attaining it. But before you go fully exorcising those demons, get clear on what balance means for you. It’s a broad term and means something different for each of us. Thankfully, Mercury, the planet that rules the mind and all things communication, is a part of this Full Moon. It’s there in the action to say, “Hey, you know what shit you need to fix. Don’t try to meditate to the answer. Don’t hope someone else is gonna come along and tell you what you need to fix. You KNOW the answer so get to fixing it!” Well, that’s how my mind talks to me at least. Anyway, all this is to say you have the answer available to you, right now. It’s the thing you’ve felt nagging you. Whether it’s something you’ve been doing too much of, or something you haven’t been doing enough. It’s that person you’ve been giving all of yourself to in lieu of giving anything to yourself. Or substitute that for a job. Or your family. What else is getting more time than YOU in your life? The balance must shift.

Make the changes you need to restore order to the kingdom of your life

This isn’t just a simple shift either. Let me guess that you may be feeling a little do or die these days. You may be feeling like what you do now will have ramifications that echo out into your future in a big way. Well, it’s because they do. That Taurus New Moon When You Measure What You’re Worth

Define your worth by the love you feel for yourself and for others

What are you worth, and how do you judge it? Do you judge by how much money you make? Is it by how busy you are each week? And don’t get all high and mighty on me and be like, “Oh I love myself. I am priceless, honey!” Not if you allow someone to make a critical comment about your work or your hair or your mode of transportation and then feel some sort of way about it for hours or days or weeks to come. If that is the case, then you may be valuing yourself based on some other person’s perception of you, which means you’ve placed your sense of worth outside of yourself. Now, if you never do that and you’re still feeling priceless, then get it girl! But, if you’re like me, you may still allow any sort of rejection to ding your human heart. And let’s be real, it can ding your fragile ego too. Well please know that it’s okay, because we have to be willing to feel what we need to feel. And, as we feel it, we work through it, which allows ourselves to get closer to a place where our worth solely stems from within. That is the promised land.

This Taurus New Moon wants you to establish a new, greater sense of self worth, which will allow you to be fully responsible for the actions you take. This means it is time to love yourself and all that you are in a bigger way so that you feel confident enough to seize everything you want in life. If your worth is found outside you in any way, then you will easily stand by, waiting for someone to do something or say something that will validate your existence. And then you may not take action toward manifesting your goals, because you don’t feel you’ve been given the go-ahead to do so. You are a brilliant, creative light on this spinning rock we call Earth. You are magic with a unique message to offer. And you are responsible for your happiness and successes. Yes, that means you are responsible for your failures too, but you are also none of these things. You are a beautiful human experiencing these things. And you observe them. You learn from them. But you don’t define yourself by them. Again, you define yourself by the love you feel for yourself and for others. That is your truth so let that truth radiate bright into the eyes of your life, and all that other bullshit will just be blinded by its glow.

The Aries New Moon That Wants You to Begin Again

You’re reading this right now because the Universe wants me to send you a message

It’s never too late to begin again. That’s what I tell myself constantly. When I’m beating myself up for not actualizing a dream I’ve had for months or even years, I gently cradle my inner child and say, “It’s never too late.” It’s never too late to start a new career. It’s never too late to meet the love of your life. It’s never too late to be creative. It’s never too late to be a parent. And it’s certainly never too late to let go of your past. To let go of the old mentality shit that keeps you tethered to a haggard version of yourself that can’t accept pure love into your life. Because what’s the point of that? What’s the point of living this life if you can’t accept pure love and joy? If you’ve given up on yourself starting anew with something you know deep inside is meant for you, then you’ve also given into the idea that it is too late for you. And let me tell you that you’re reading this right now because the Universe wants me to send you a message.

Do not give up on your new beginnings. Every day is a fresh start. Every day is here for you to open a window to your greater life. But you must be willing to approach it from a place of grounded belief in yourself. And you must have a sense of fearlessness with it all. Sure, stepping off one tested path for another that feels less sure is scary. But fuck it. All great stories have a sense of mystery and danger. And they also all have a powerful, inspiring ending. Don’t you deserve to live a great story, as opposed to the same old one where you lose in the end?

That Cancer New Moon When You Went In

The Cancer New Moon is all about connecting to and nurturing your innermost self

I was recently talking to some folks about Mercury Retrograde and how this current one has been doing a number on me. In short, I’ve been a hot mess. Most agreed, but one said that he hadn’t felt any sort of communication breakdown with anyone.

My response to him: “How about a communication breakdown with yourself?

His response: “Well damn”, followed by a nod.

See, sometimes we focus too much on the outward communication in our lives that we forget about communicating with ourselves. And that is the most important kind of communication. That is why meditation and self-reflection are so damn important. If we aren’t taking the time to ask ourselves the right questions about our lives and what we want, then we end up in a constant state of “I don’t know”. Because we don’t even know what it is we want to know. We’re either too afraid to face the truth of what we want, or we don’t even want to bother pining for something we already believe is out of our reach.

Well, that’s just bullshit.

With the right nurturing and focus, we can attain anything we want to in this lifetime. It may not show up on your doorstep tomorrow with a bow wrapped around it. But hell, it just may. Or at least, it will show up when it needs to and when you’ve prepared yourself enough to receive it. Trust that if you believe, it will show up.

Given the Springtime and all of the recent astrological happenings, I believe that all of you have been planting seeds and making way for some big shifts, changes, projects, and occurrences in your lives. And it hasn’t all been easy. We’ve all been meeting challenges to our ideas, plans, and desires, but the good in this process is that we should be able to enter into these next few months with more clarity. Again, that is unless you’re not taking the time to really analyze what it is you’re doing, why, and what you ultimately want out of it. If that hasn’t been the case, well don’t worry, you still have time to regroup and get in touch with your deepest intentions and needs. But you have to be willing to go in and do the deeper work.

Show yourself that you matter and are something magical in this world

The Cancer New Moon is all about connecting to and nurturing your innermost self. In astrology, the Moon rules our emotional, inner being, so we can use this New Moon time to forge a new relationship with ourselves. And because we have this retrograde energy in effect (it starts to dissipate early next week, thank god), we should really reflect on how we’ve related to ourselves and reexamine the relationship we have with our thoughts. Do we wholeheartedly support our own dreams? Do we tell ourselves the motivational things we need to hear, or do we just spend time cutting ourselves down? And how are we showing ourselves with what we do in our lives that we want to nurture our best selves?

Now is the time to recommit to loving yourself in a massive way.

Now is the time to reconnect to the truth of you in a massive way.

Now is the time to give yourself the love you deserve in a massive way.

Now is the time to be you, to nurture you, and to show yourself that you matter and are something magical in this world.

Change or Get Off The Cross

When you make that intense promise to live greater, your life steps up to meet you

In my last post about the full moon, I wrote that the planets were “moving in ways to make challenging angles to each other. Some are getting along. Some are pushing each other. For us, that means we are being pushed and prodded toward our higher calling.” That’s right, my loves. At this time, we are being strongly urged to grow toward our greater self. And that full moon eclipse was the gateway to it. I mean, did you notice how everyone seemed to be talking about it, even if not in an astrological or spiritual way? They were posting about it on Facebook or taking pictures for their Instagram feed. And it makes sense, because it looked really cool. But also, that full “blood” moon was a massive moment for us all on a deeper level. So subconsciously, we all felt a gravitational pull to her. The full moon eclipse was an opening, leading us down the passageway toward our life’s next great chapter. So now how do we fully step into it?

Recently, I attended this ridiculously amazing restorative yoga class. I’ve been before and it’s always a brilliant experience, but this time it really took me on a deep, meditative journey. Its culmination was a visualization exercise that pushed us to connect with each of the four elements. All the students were asked to picture ourselves as each element in whatever way came to us. At first, I was a huge tranquil sea. Then, I became a cozy fire pit on a cool summer night. I was then the scent of jasmine and lavender coasting on the roof of a spring breeze. And finally I morphed into the dirt that lay at the feet of a family of giant redwoods. I essentially became the earth, in all of its varied, elemental glory. This exercise was so soothing and left me feeling incredibly balanced. For I realized that if I was all four of these elements, I was also the space in the center of them. And it is only from that center space where any of us has the ability to tap into all of the elements of oneself in a clear, balanced way.

The time for change is now

Between now and the end of April, four of the major planets are creating an elemental cross in the sky, and we are all finding ourselves in the midst of trying to balance between them. In astrology, it’s referred to as a Grand Cross, though some astrologers are punctuating it with feelings of Armageddon or Y2K. Now don’t get me wrong, it is intense. I mean, aren’t you feeling pretty damn intense these days? But you shouldn’t approach this time with fear. Rather, you should engage it with a sense of openness and a curiosity for how to become a better you. We all just need to learn how to still ourselves so that we can attain the lessons being presented to us. The time for change is now.

The Beginning of The Rest of Your Life

It’s time to step boldly into the future self that has been beckoning you toward your destiny

It’s time for the New Year, people. 2013 is leaving the building. Now I don’t know about you, but 2013 was kinda rough. It was a challenging one, with a lot of major change. So many people I know lost jobs, loved ones, or even senses of their life direction, causing major life questions to take hold of the mind and pummel it. While others saw births of children, career paths, or relationships. But even those new beginnings opened up a Pandora’s box of personal growth lessons that not everyone was ready to face. Still, I believe 2013 will be looked back upon as a year that “started it all”.

In 2013, it was as if the ground opened up and gravity took us down into a new dimension of being. Or like Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, we emerged from the ground, uncertain but brave as we took in the frightening, exhilarating backdrop of our newest chapter.

All the effects of Saturn in Scorpio, a shift at the core essence. We then had to assimilate. We had to get our feet sturdy and understand our new surroundings. And we had to come up against ideas of where we thought we were going versus where we seemed to be headed now, and with whom. This transitional energy is a major component to the 2014 shift and the new moon in Capricorn that accompanies it.

You must allow yourself to leave the negativity, the self-doubt, the anxiety, and the dread behind

With this Capricorn new moon, it’s time to step boldly into the future self that has been beckoning you toward your destiny. But you aren’t to just leave the old you behind, lying on the shore for the waves to take. You must acknowledge the pieces of you that are authentic and meaningful and integrate them into the life you plan to have moving forward. So many people go into a new year with the idea that they must be purged of their old self before they can start anew. But that’s impossible. And that’s why we fail at moving forward, because we don’t want to leave the old behind. Well, in some aspects, we shouldn’t. However, we must be clear about what to bring with us and what can be washed out to sea.

The moon rules the past (Cancer) while Capricorn is all about building for the future. So we must go into this year continuing to build on the lessons of this past year. We allowed ourselves to let go of a lot in 2013 but what we’ve held onto must be utilized. All of our best talents, relationships, and ideas must be maximized this year so that our souls can manifest our future realities to their greatest potential. Isn’t that what we all want? To be our highest, most magnificent self? Well again, I say it’s time for the New Year, people. So how can you move into it in a way that allows for that best self to completely emerge? The clue is to know that you already are your best self, or at least know what he/she looks like. Now you must allow yourself to leave the negativity, the self-doubt, the anxiety, and the dread behind so that you can just live a life on fire, with passion, grace, and total kick-ass power.

Your Rebirth is Now

Just see the new you emerging and dive into the wave of it

My plan this morning was to wake up early and channel the Scorpio new moon’s energy to write one of my usual posts on it. However, Uranus, the ruler of surprise, was directly involved in my personal new moon and where it fell in my chart, so it brought on an unexpected turn of events. I awoke to some messages that a relative had gone into the hospital and was not doing very well. After speaking to my parents, it was revealed that he would probably not make it for much longer. Though not incredibly close to him, I knew it was important for me to go and be with my family. Thus my afternoon of writing turned into a day in the hospital, feeling grief and sadness. In a way, it was actually an experience suited to the Scorpio new moon as it was literally about the sign’s greatest marker. Death. But it also allowed me to spend some very intimate time with the people I love most dearly in life, and to see the other important element of Scorpio. Rebirth.

My family and I are not the same people we were a decade or two ago. Once divided by pain, anger, and addiction, we have since transformed into a clan that now puts love first. Sure, we still have some collective healing to do, but we have truly evolved in a remarkably positive way. However, our family’s rebirth hasn’t kept me from still reacting to them from those old feelings of pain or anger. At times, it would be like the twelve year old me was in the room again, feeling all of the same emotions that tore him up inside so many years ago. And then I would be frustrated at myself for still holding onto the past in such an emotional way. It was a vicious cycle.

Today though, I saw that I was able to engage them without feeling any of the old childhood crap at my feet. The young me wasn’t even in the room. Instead, today I was just present as the man I am now. I guess you could say that seeing another man at death’s door will force you into the moment. I have also been experiencing a pretty powerful inner shift leading up to today. The old elements of me that no longer belong have been seriously put on trial as of late. And I think today’s experience helped them to get their final sentencing. I also know I’m not the only one feeling this inner urge to shift and evolve.

The Aries Full Moon That Wants To Rock Your World

This Aries Full Moon wants you to reconnect to an area of your life where you crave creativity, inspiration, and action

Usually I start my posts out talking about me. However this time, I want to talk about you. I want to talk about how you are trying your best to get in touch with your highest self while at the same time trying to be fabulous in your everyday life. You want enlightenment but then want to go shopping after attaining it. You want to be in a job that you like but more so, one that utilizes your specific talents and passions. You don’t want to feel like you’re wasting your time, unless it’s your decision to do so on a TV binge, Instagram session, or Candy Crush marathon. You want to be open to surprise in your romantic life, but you also want a clearer understanding of the bigger picture – are you going to get married/stay married or not? Should you be a parent? That question burns even more so if you already have a child. And yes, you’re probably wondering what the hell you should do or be for Halloween. Well aren’t we all?

That is just my point. Aren’t we all? Yes, we’re all snowflakes, each one of us unique in our atomic chemistry. But at the same time, we also all strive, question, and contemplate life’s big questions. We all live inside of a world inside of our heads. We all fear. We all enjoy. We all get confused. And we all, at times, wish someone or something would just come along and say, “This is your path. Get on it and walk.” The funny thing is, this actually does happen for us all – probably daily. We receive answers to our questions in forms of things we watch or read, overheard conversations, or spurts of internal dialogue whose authenticity we then question. This collective universality of experience is extremely important to keep awareness of if one aims to be a loving, compassionate human being. And it is especially something to be aware of as we enter this Aries Full Moon.

Reset your emotional clock and get on track with your precise plan

The current astrological climate is rather aggressive in its desire to push us all toward actualizing our greater selves. Yes, it may feel like the planets and stars are always eagerly urging us in the direction of higher self-realization. Well, that’s because the Universe has that as the ultimate goal for each of us. And for each, being one’s “greater self” looks different. But we all have a specific cosmic blueprint to follow. And when the full moon is in Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac, it’s a yearly opportunity to reset your emotional clock and get on track with your precise plan.

This Aries Full Moon wants you to reconnect to an area of your life where you crave creativity, inspiration, and action. Being that it’s illuminated by the Sun in Libra, it wants you to do this while recognizing that you are one with those around you. You may just be frustrated with your own stalled progress around a project, job search, or emotional quandary. Whatever the case, you must hold compassion for everyone involved so that you can then be calm and clear enough to see the path light up before you. It may just be time to leave that work or relationship situation. Or you may have a light bulb moment around a question or process you’ve been stuck in. None of this can occur when you’re pointing the finger. And that includes pointing it at the mirror.

Take your growth seriously or else just flounder

So how are you opening yourself up to a new start within? And where have you felt a stagnancy or apprehension to make change? Trust that this new emotional beginning of some sort won’t be easy. There is struggle in it, but it’s coming from a place of love. The Universe wants you to work hard for the gifts it has in store. It wants you to take your growth seriously or else just flounder. In a way, it’s like exam time in school. So are you going to come correct and take the test? Or you just gonna doodle in the margins? If getting in touch with that highest self really is as important to you as I think it is, then you’re going to put your head down, bite the end of that pen, and get to work.

It’s 2013! What the Hell Are You Doing With Your Life?

The universe has given us a shared language in astrology

I recently went to see a planetarium show at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. It was a show I had seen before, about the birth of the cosmos and the history of astronomy. In the past, I had found it to be visually lovely and rather entertaining. But this time, I was more so affected by the narrative content of the piece. In particular, I was struck by the fact that ancient civilizations like the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians saw astrology to be the same as astronomy. The zodiac was established and used to study the night sky but was also used as a tool for how to live one’s best life. It was all essentially a uniform science that we, over time, have created a separation for. Astronomy has become considered true science while astrology just a charming and, to some, silly ideology. And, it’s a shame really. Because something rooted in such human history, as well as in nature, shouldn’t be looked down upon because we have entered into a world ruled by technology. Our relationship with the natural world should be our most important. And if the universe has given us a shared language in astrology, then we should all take an interest in it so we can each better understand our own personal nature.

There is a powerful scent of “what is the bigger picture for my life” in the air for all of us right now

As I have spent the past few days deeply pondering all of this, I was intrigued to find that Pluto, the God of all things profound, and Mercury, the communicator, were meeting up for a conjunction in Capricorn, the sign of serious ambition and goal-attainment. That means, in astrological terms, that it all makes more sense that I would be immersed in grand thoughts about the cosmos and the meaning of it all. It would also make sense why I spent yesterday morning on a call with my Capricorn friend, who wanted to discuss the deeper meanings of his romantic life. And also why a group of my friends and I got together last night to start organizing an action plan on how we were going to accomplish our big goals for the year. This is some serious life realness we have going on right now! There is a powerful scent of “what is the bigger picture for my life” in the air for all of us right now, so we all must take a big ass inhale and breathe it in.
